What did the postman bring?

An upgrade arrived from Celestron as compensation for the three RASA 8 scopes I had to return as they had bad flaring, which has now led to Celestron halting shipments and returning all their RASA 8 stock to the factory for modification. It's significantly heavier, 19.5kg compared to 7.7kg 😲 so I've had to get a bigger mount which is coming tomorrow. 🙂

Needless to say CO is blanket red for the foreseeable future. :D

Good buy, Ian. You must tell us how you get on with it.

A quick visual only report, as I had mount problems last night.  Without the filter, CA was obvious around the Jovian disk.  With the filter, it was nearly as good as the view with my 8" Dob.

Good news. You might save yourself a few hundred quid!

You could be right.  😛 I've just received an email from Celestron saying a RASA 11 is being delivered tomorrow. FLO are looking into it. 🤔

Sore point. My lawnmower went in for repairs 4 weeks ago. I just called them again and it’s still not done 👎🏻

It’s time I tried one of these SVbony zoom eyepieces. I opted for the 7-21mm. If I don’t like it then I’ll pass it on to my grandson who loves the Celestron LT70 I gifted him (once I removed the starsense unit).🙂

I was going to say "Wish my lawn looked like that. After the summer we just had mine looks as well kept as a cows Bottom." but I thought it wouldn't be appropriate.

Be interested to see your feedback.  I wasn't massively keen on my 8-24mm initially, but i think that was my own inexperience.

Tried it a couple nights ago and quite enjoyed it.  Very, very nice barlowed for planets and the moon.

I use mine quite a lot particularly on my smaller ‘scope (it’s a nice compact fit with the Heritage 150p) - quality very good for the price.

I discovered Leofoto products for myself about 18 months ago and find they are an excellent value.

I have no proof but believe they manufacture tripods for several higher-priced brands.

Second TC-E2 teleconverter so I can make some 2x42 binos.

I did the same a while ago,  I took the cheap/lazy route and used epoxy resin and cable ties to connect them as they exactly matched my interpupillary distance. Works a treat.
