Hi Andrew and welcome to SGL. You could start off by downloading a free planetarium programme such as Stellarium - Will give you an idea of where stuff is ............ when you can see it!!

Hi, Andrew, and welcome to SGL! +1 for 'Stellarium' as a superb free download which will help not only wioth locating objects, but also planning for a viewing session. (It's alos good gfor wasting a couple of hours during those wet and overcast nights -not that we ever get those in the UK!!!!) Downloadable here: http://stellarium.org/
