  1. I was out this morning with my binos and even my camera, but off to the East there was just too much distant scattered clouds. Fought the swarms of mosquitos till heavens above showed it at 11.3° and the sky was getting bright enough only Venus was visible.
  2. It's just so sad, with all the technology lights like these cant be designed to dim themselves or turn themselves off at certain times. Where I work, all the lights in the milk, meat and frozen areas come back on automatically at either 6 or 7am.
  3. One other thing that I haven't seen mentioned amongst the members here, as terrible as this is for the light pollution, I always wonder, what does it cost to run lights like that? Over here, every new shopping center leaves the parking lot lights on at night even when the shops are closed. That adds to the rent of the units. My pocket isn't as deep as it once was. And for those to be used to grow cannabis, the lights need to be a bit lower. It likes the heat from the light too!😎👍😁
  4. The detail in your second image is very nice. But then I do have a soft spot for the Moon!0
  5. Got out with my camera and binos with high hope this morning only to be let down with clouds and light showers. If its visible from Arizona, can I expect it to be a little higher in the sky here in Florida? To get down to 10°, I'll have to hunt for someplace where there aren't so many trees.
  6. I commend you for offering your time. The world would be a much better place if every helped each other.
  7. Very nice. Seeing the moons as more than tiny brilliant speck is nice!
  8. I'm waiting anxiously and hoping this one puts on a good show in my Florida skies. I'm thinking early mornings in the next week or ten days it might start appearing? That time line sound correct?
  9. The image above is wonderful to use as a comparison! I have to admit seeing it tells me I'm close to a 4-5, than a 3-4.
  10. Well, a hardened bunker would be worthless! I dont think I can keep it quiet, even in the small town I live in, when i start building a rocket to escape in! Are my neighbors too close at 500'?
  11. It's something I give thought to, but not really "worry" about. Till I see real hard effort to prevent it from happening, I'll just accept it as a given that the one with our name on it will hit. One that would be extinction level, is most likely very rare. The one that surprises us and takes out a major population area, worries me more! Just image out of the blue, or should I say dark, one with the power of 20 or 30 kilotons hit North Korea?
  12. Here in Fla where I live, 27°, I'm lucky. It gets very dark and when the conditions are right very clear. I live in a borderline 3-4 if I use the Bortle scale. Sky glow to the West is very noticeable over riding any star below about 25 degrees above the horizon. On both sides of the zenith, the Milkyway is visible, though some nights are much better than others. Town is rapidly coming my way, but my time is most likely going to be over before it gets out here.
  13. Yes, thanks for the wonderful write up. I would like to one day enjoy solar viewing and imaging. This made the Lunt much more understandable. The images I see on the forum are amazing!
  14. That is an excellent image of Saturn!
  15. Excellent! I do like seeing how the moons change around Jupiter. I would have loved to be standing in the background to hear what Galileo muttered when he first saw them! I'm sure, not understanding any Italian, I would have got the jest of it!
  16. Very nice images. Makes me feel a bit better with my recent attempts with Mars. Not nearly as good as yours, but similar with the polar cap and its shape. That had me scratching my head at its shape, but it too is like your image.
  17. I really like the detail in Saturn! Well done!
  18. Incredible! Another example of everything out there to be explored, someday.
  19. Beautiful image of the Milkyway!
  20. Excellent image! I was also out this morning enjoying the views, but they weren't nearly as good as yours. It was forecast that so Sahara dust would move over Florida and I think it did. Your image does show me I was seeing the GRS. Nothing like yours, but I'm always happy with what I get being I'm still using a Canon and single images.
  21. Thanks! Those are some nice images so something I wished I could have seen with my own eyes. I watch Luna and Mars merge, it was almost too daylight to see, but when that tiny red spec disappeared it was magical!
  22. I jokingly refer to mine as Area51. Even though you see it from a distance, its really not there. Only thing that worries me is the powers to be, regularly upgrade their property tax base with satellite images, and it's on the new images. Along with the metal roof someone installed on my house!!😊
  23. Thank you! So many amazing things above us to witness, if we just can be at the right place at the right time!
