  1. I too hope they get it up and working. From the looks of the photo, it's definitely a government job! Everyone is standing at the door like its breaktime!😁
  2. I dont know if they have all the answers they really want about the effects of O-g on bodies that have evolved to be in gravity. For the time being I guess astronauts will have to balance the risk reward factor to justify what they personally sacrifice. If someone would have offered me the chance to go into space, but would have said when you get old, your joints might hurt all over, you might not see or hear really well and you hair will turn gray, I would have done it in a minute. Already got all that just from working here on terrafirma with out all the fun!
  3. Wow! I need to check my lotto tickets.
  4. A beautiful image of the milkyway. For me the best I can manage is it almost directly over head, and the to the eye it is very faint. I dont think I've ever seen it as an arch on the horizon.
  5. Yes, surprised me the clips were short, but I liked it.
  6. Took control of the remote, 🙄, drove the 3 youngest grandkids crazy, but really enjoyed the series on Astronaut Kelly and Cosmonaut Kornienko's year long mission aboard the ISS. It was very interesting watching it progress from training in Star City, all the way to the end and recovery. A lot of really incredible video footage and commentary by both of the Space Veterans, their families and the engineers in the USA and Russia. Has anyone else seen it and what did you think?
  7. I find time flies by when I'm out. Jupiter, Saturn and Mars, along with a little looking for a few fuzzies, quickly turns into a couple hours. I find a coffee urn, instead of a big mug might have to be my next astronomical purchase.
  8. Please tell me you used something that was eco friendly to do your travel!! If not, the carbon footprint you left could be the beginning of another planet! 😁
  9. Must be a lot less strict requirements for a Starlink launch. I would have bet it would have been scrubbed with the weather we had.
  10. First, welcome to an incredible forum. I'm not the expert so many here are, but what I've found is that for the money a Barlow is a good addition because it allows you to almost double your eyepiece collection without spending a lot of money Just remember, when you do buy more, take in account what you already have and what the Barlow gives you. If you have a 20mm, and a Barlow, dont buy a 10mm.
  11. I think what it must have been like, before The Big Bang. Nothing, void, darkness. Then from that nothing, it happened and there was light. And we all know without a doubt that when we look up into a cloudless night sky, it is good!
  12. 4 days till it's deployed? Any chance of fixing up you van to look like the Space Shuttle?
  13. Now I'm really depressed! 😞 So much for my dreams!
  14. I never thought of it that way, but you are right. We do live on a cool world! Sometimes I have doubts about about some of the people we share it with!
  15. I dont think i'll see clear skies for days. We have something developing in the Gulf of Mexico.
  16. So, I take it my theory that someone sitting at his desk, in another dimension, reaching down, picking up, then shaking the terrarium globe his six year old made for a science project, doesn't fly!🤔
  17. I'm still close enough to a point and click photographer to not offer any advice. But I do like the image. What more could you ask for? A beautiful bridge, a space station and the Moon!
  18. What SpaceX has done is truly amazing. So many times you hear the complaint that so and so is just building off something someone else did. Well, l cant remember anyone bringing their booster back and reusing it again and again. I'm going to have to keep watch out for a Falcon 9 Heavy getting launched. That will be the one to take my grandkids to see. Something really loud with lots of smoke and fire. They were out of town for this one.
  19. Though I live far enough away from my neighbors that my camera clicking wont bother them, if it did, I might cover the sound up with some soothing music. Perhaps Pink Floyd's time playing over and over again. Maybe AC DC' s Hell's Bells.😉
  20. Yeah. I'm even watching the weather deciding if I'm going to try again Saturday. I'm scheduled to work Sunday starting at 4am, but at my age, something's are, let's say, of more interest. I planned for the GAE in 2017 for 18 months.
  21. At least I did find a decent spot to view a launch the next time I loose my mind! 😁
  22. Its quickly becoming a circus here!
