  1. Congratulations! Now, seek therapy quickly before the addiction takes hold! In no time you'll be out in cold weather taking images of the planets and things you cant see with your own eyes! You've just joined a crazy group of people!😁
  2. After being married for 41 years, my advice is smile, nod your head and say "yes dear!" Then keep on doing what makes you happy! But then I do occasionally sleep in the observatory!🤔
  3. I got out for just a few minutes. Did not want to let this spot go around the edge without seeing it. It is very windy so viewing wasnt the best, still when it calmed the spot definitely stood out! Took a few images, but haven't downloaded them yet. What are we looking at, another couple years before we hit the peak of this active period?
  4. Mostly observing but some imaging. I wont fool myself that I could put forth the effort so many here do. Unless I hit the lotto, this will probably be my only mount. Over here the EQ6 R pro goes for $1595
  5. Okay, right now I'm being patient. I know it's way out of stock, so it will be a wait, but that's okay. I'm waiting for last years tax paper work to go through. I know an EQ6 pro will be over kill for my 8" reflector but this will most likely be my only mount so I'd rather go a bit over. Tell me the pros and cons. Oh yeah, I might be patient, but really I can't wait to push that order item button!
  6. If that is your first attempt all I can say is well done!
  7. I'm pretty sure the crew dragon might still be attached to the ISS. That could be why they listed it as passing over. With the madness in the Gulf with the first one returning, I'm sure I would have remembered it coming back!
  8. Yes, very nice images! I really like the way the light can hit the mountain tops just right so they look snow covered!
  9. Seeing it the first time was incredible, but, every time I get a good clear look it's still incredible. It has so much to enjoy and with the changing light, you find new marvels to behold every time.
  10. Great images! I witnessed it once a year or so ago. Mars was just a tiny speck but when it winked of of sight it was amazing!
  11. All I can say is well done! Totally amazing work! Me, I'm still doing single images with a push pull DOB, so I really dont care there are lists that show when and where. If you can work out something 30km across at almost a billion miles, I think Galileo would smile!
  12. Nice images! Oh the power of Mother Sol.
  13. I think I liked the scene with 5 o'clock Charlie, bomb in hand, shaking it at those on the ground watching him, just before tossing it back over his shoulder! That was a great show!
  14. It is so incredible seeing what we, humanity, is accomplishing in space travel and exploration at this time. Shame we didnt stay more "focused" in the early 70's. Where would we be now if we had?
  15. Welcome from your Southern neighbor.
  16. I'm eagerly watching and waiting. Now it seems a real possibility, I'm just waiting to be very certain I dont endure the wrath of the Gods!
  17. The sense of joy I feel when I see something through the eyepiece for the first time, or the hundredth time is hard to explain. The seeing was good this morning, but not the greatest. Still seeing Saturn, made me smile again. And any chance I have to share with my wife, daughters or grandchildren are moments we will remember forever. All I can say is if you do get a telescope, enjoy it. If you decide to go the other route, that's your choice and I'm sure you will enjoy that as well. But most of all, dont stop looking up at the night sky in awe. We live in an incredible universe!
  18. Do you think they will ever be "in stock" again or are they destined to be a back ordered item from now on? I really want to push the order button, but just can't jump off the cliff and do it!
  19. Welcome. You have found an amazing group of talented people!
  20. Quick, sell the idea to Lego! Tell them you are working on all the planets to go with it!
  21. Very nice images. Excellent detail!
  22. Wonderful image. I turn my 8" dob at the big red spot occasionally and am pleased with any image I get of a dark spot!
  23. Yes a sad day. RIP Mr Collins. I read "Carrying the fire" when I was much younger and enjoyed it. When he commented on how he would think and feel if something happened to two astronauts on the moon or when returning to the CM it really made me think. I've always believed he would have done anything he possibly could do if there had been any chance of him saving them! Although the light would be better tomorrow morning for the area, I still did take a few moments to view the landing area.
  24. Oh my, that's an incredible lunar image. Most people I know see the moon like this, and love it!
