  1. Hi welcome to SGL from Pete in Bedfordshire 🙂
  2. Hi welcome to SGL from Pete in Bedfordshire 🙂
  3. A great standard of images again this year. I reconise a few names and images that have made it, well done to everyone who got mentioned or entered. https://www.rmg.co.uk/whats-on/astronomy-photographer-year/galleries/2021-overall-winners
  4. My first scope was a PST, i enjoyed using it visually. I preferred imaging though, i know own a Lunt 50mm, which i have double stacked. It is pretty good visually as well, but i still preferring imaging with it.
  5. Nice sharp images, hopefully some new activity is around the corner.
  6. A nice last capture of that active region, shame to see it disappear, all quite again now unfortunately.
  7. Excellent 1st image Jonny, a couple of faint Moons there as well.
  8. Very nice image, the animation has come out nicely as well. Not having any experience with either Takahashi scope, will the loss of 60mm aperture be made up for by the lack of central obstruction? It would certainly be interesting to see the images through these two high quality scopes.
  9. Very well captured and presented. I like the lovely natural look to the images, the processing looks just right to me.
  10. Nice pair of images there, some decent detail visible on both.
  11. They look pretty good Simon, lots of the little white ovals visible.
  12. To be honest, other than maybe a blow with a manual air blower i never touch them.
  13. Sounds fantastic, thats what you call dark!
  14. Thanks, it seems to be healing well. I have been looking a lot, the classifieds on here are a nightmare. Spent ages talking my self out of the Zwo camera recently on here 🙂
  15. Definitely a cross between a Butterfly astronomer, doing a bit of everything and a Nostalgic astronomer, who is trying to relive the first observations of youth 🙂
  16. Iknow how you are feeling, i am 3 1/2 weeks into recovering from a broken ankle. The first 2 weeks were incredibly boring, luckly a had just received a couple of heayweight astro books. Last week was better, especially when the Sun was out, i even managed some imaging time. Not bought anything yet though, still plenty of time left yet ......................
  17. decent start with your new scope, hoefully some better conditions are around the corner.
  18. I remembered printing this off a few years back, i though it was pretty useful. https://www.prairieastronomyclub.org/filter-performance-comparisons-for-some-common-nebulae/
  19. José Luis Pereira from Brazil has possibly discovered a new impact on Jupiter. It has been reported in a few astronomy outlets already. Might be intersting to see if there are any "impact scars" remaining. I did post a link to damian Peach's Twitter feed, but it came a bit large, he has tweeted today about it as well. https://groups.io/g/impact-detection/topic/alert_jupiter_impact_flash/85600483?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate/sticky,,,20,0,0,85600483,previd=1631628123971818882,nextid=1597257238724498646&previd=1631628123971818882&nextid=1597257238724498646
  20. Terrific mosaic, needs to be viewed at full size to appreciate the detail/resolution properly. Excellent work Neil, how many images was it?
