I have a feeling it’ll be Imperial. It’s a while since I fitted mine but I remember being surprised. Though I shouldn’t have been as I think the A in ADM might stand for American.

Actually, it's "Anthony" (Davoli).

All excited when this arrived until I unpacked it there are smudges on the inside of the optical cell maybe I can clean that

Worse is it won't take 1.25mm eyepieces and the vixen plates I have don't fit it needs narrower ones.

If it's from a three lettered used astro site I was thinking of pressing the button on it but was cautious about the condition of the lenses 🤨

Hope you can sort it out without compromising the glass 🤞

Yes it is and I really should not of got it as I have been shafted before from them with the Meade 127mm, the flint and crown where the wrong way around and the focuser was plastic jumped around all over the place I got a Skywatcher dual speed focuser and had a adapter plate made cost me over £250 I really should never have sold that.

The unacceptable side of buying used , i think most of us have had shall we say questionable purchases .I really hope you are able to sort everything out .

Using fracs for more than a few years , I’ve never come across a used one that looked smudged or cloudy .

There’s always the enthusiastic cleaner who can leave a flint looking like Brillo .

There’s also the fungi growers , pernicious little beasts with their coating eating acids.

looks like the securing ring has been graunched on and off .

It’s a shame , I’ve a 90M and a 102SP , both punch well above their aperture.

send it back

Looks like it doesn't it I should be able to clean it myself. I have sorted the dovetail just need 2 M6 bolts with the right thread. Adapter wise I was looking at a baader one but its 36.4mm to 1.25mm yet the part it would screw into is 35.6mm.

It arrived this afternoon and it hasn't stopped talking to me! Took all of 2 minutes after unpacking to take this shot of the sun, clouds and sunspots included.

Sorry its not a good start for you on this. The SP102M is a fantastic scope. I felt sure you could buy a thread on 1.25" eyepiece/visual back adapter for this??.. Also have complete faith that you will bring that lens back to its shiny glory with a little time spent!. Rob

I am really sorry to read of this, a very bad advert for buying second hand at a distance.

I too would like to know where you got it from and if possible name and shame the miscreant who sold it without full disclosure. Very, very bad. Hindsight is a fine thing, but too easy, especially if you are so looking forward to something.

This arrived this morning, sent from America  free of charge from a wonderful man Keith Gordon, son of the author. I haven't had chance to read it yet but its full of astronomical sketches, and deals with a very interesting topic. 🙂

I'd be happy to David.

I've seen Hellas and Argyre countless times in a 4", and they are large impact basins, or so I believe, so I'm claiming to have seen craters on Mars. :icon_cyclops_ani: I can see me scouting through my many observations after reading this book, to see if anything I've drawn repeatedly, other than Hellas and Argyre, corresponds to actual craters.
