Hi Folks Update ! So later last night I got the four red lights to come on ( so its fully charged ) but not the main 'on' button light ! After a few more attempts and button pushing the main on button light came on and I fired up the software on my tablet. I then had to do a firmware update after which It didn't connect the wifi. Every time I turn on now and connect its asking me to press the reset ! It does this every time. Gggrr Im now trying to uninstall and then reinstall the software

Hi folks So after weeks of what seems like endless rain and clouds i opened up the seestar just now and ........... dead ! no power up, no lights, nada. A week ago or so when I thought I might get an hour in it was fully charged and ready to go. However clouds rolled in and I shut it down and put it away. Tonight, went out and screwed it to the tripod and nowt.. Anyone else had this ? Its plugged in now but zero lights are illuminating 😞 Im sure Flo will sort it but thats a real bummer, seeing as its had so little use since I bought it !! any ideas ? Carl

Yes I bought the S9 specifically for use with the Seestar. Not sure how it compares with and Ipad/Apple though

Crickey. Is this still going on... WE GET IT. YOU DONT LIKE THE SEESTAR. GROW UP AND MOVE ON. LOL Its really getting pathetic now.

So, another hobby that is weather dependant !!! Cant remember the last time I saw a star, or a dry road. Lol This is new to me today. Though the post man didnt bring it, I went and got it.

Depends on your perspective of astounding. Im 56 years of age. Until I got a seestar I had never seen a spiral galaxy, nebular or sun spots. I think to get to see these, for 500 quid is astounding.
-
Na. I could sell mine now for 400 quid. To me, 100 quid 'loss' is worth it as ive had fun with it
-
Yarp, thats the trick. keeping costs down. 500 quid is a lot of peoples 'christmas present' and not out of reach for most ? I personally would pay more for new models because at this stage Im 'into' the hobby. I think a lot of seestar owner would too ? If I were a first timer though, dipping my toes in, new models will need to be keenly priced ? Having said that, they could still produce the S50 and it would just become their base model, I suppose.

I enjoy Eds youtube channel. He has a great presentation style, easy to listen to and understand. We must remember we are looking at a scope of around 500 quid !! I think for the money its quite remarkable what it achieves and its unfair to put it up against more tradition asto setups ! If ZWO listen to the forums etc and make changes to future firmware and later models I recon 'traditional' astro photog will slowly dwindle ? Anyway. I just printed this dew and light shield for mine 🙂 I can confirm this fits a treat https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6408546 Currently printing this, which may or may not give decent results. I will report back once tested ! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6459499

Why people pay 30 quid for 3 screws is beyond me. Like any hobby, we get ripped off if people dont know any better Quantity 10 M4 x30mm screws here for 9 quid. You're welcome 🙂 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KPGTZ3D?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Solar Observing: Aperture Question
GasGiant replied to GeezerGazer's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
One thing I might suggest also. I dont know if this is a good safety tip, but I have been popping a cover over the finder scope too. Just so I dont get a sudden blast of sun! If you do pop a cap on the finderscope, do it at the front, not the back. I popped one on the back first and the sun burnt right through it ! -
I set up the Seestar on a 6ft post and this is now its permanent spot. I don't know if it makes any diff but it seems more natural to have it higher up than on the tripod? Anyway, moon was out messing things up and a house few doors down has the most obnoxious security light popping on and off so I didnt get much !

Haha. The misses calls it the outside loo. It does give off those vibes 😀

Ahoy Hoy Ive got apeture fever and Im thinking of extending the Dobservation site and buying something bigger than the 10". Something with a GoTo Got a sweet set up, less than a minute the dob is rolled out and im observing, when the clouds allow ! so it would be great to take advantage of the space and go BIGGER 😮 I recently missed out on a GoTo SW Flexitube 300 on ebay that went for a song !! Curses. Maybe next time!

Achro Refrac contrast question.
GasGiant posted a topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Hi folks So Im loving the contrast I get with the Seestar images. I believe this is similar to traditional achro refracts, in that they produce nice contrasting images/viewing ? Im trying to hone in on a scope type for my next purchase ! Carl -
It would look that way.. @30 seconds shows what being updated. It would be interesting to see if they have rolled it out for US first due to the upcoming solar eclipse ? Any IOS users here have it yet ?
