I'm really quite tempted to try one of those 🙂

I used it on the moon last night just the edge but the view of the craters as I went higher mag was brilliant there was a few thermals but it was clear and sharp glad I got it now.  Tried it on my solar set up but wasnt enough inward travel I could not focus unless that was the fault of the wedge.

I would find this very difficult to justify to my better half if i get caught.

Nothing wrong with the stock focuser at all but i'm hoping if this is a 1:7 gear reduction its also 1/7 the amount of turning force required and therefore less transfer of finger wobble to the scope while approaching sharpest focus...

A delivery today by DHL with my new binoculars. I opted for the Helios Apollo 15x70’s as an upgrade from 10x50. I was a bit taken aback by the size of them and how solidly built they are. I particularly like the threaded eyepieces that can accommodate filters. It’s blue skies here so fingers crossed for their first light tonight.

This APM zoom  arrived recently and I have used it on a couple of sessions so far.  I am very impressed with its quality, particularly the focal length click stops, and the constant 67 deg FOV  as you move through its range is just brilliant.  I have only used it so far on double stars but what I have seen leaves no doubt that it is a premium bit of kit.   My little Carton zoom, which is itself extremely capable, is shown alongside for comparison and   I had thought that it would have to go, but I shall keep it, one for each scope !

My  Celestron Ultima 2x barlow in the optical chain makes no difference to the image quality across the range, and gives 163x  to 327x , in my 6"refractor, very useful for star splitting.

Nice to see one of these - I have wondered quite a bit about them since their launch 🙂

Hi Ian , only just seen your message.. I love the dwarf .. it's such a breeze to operate , mind you the iPhone app isn't up to much, whereas the Android app is fine.

Does it barlow well I went for a Antares 1.6 x barlow but that's still in the post as well

Hope you can bring it to focus OK.

The Antares 1.6 has great glass in it but depending on the version, achieving focus can be challenging.

I use my Celestron Ultima barlow and it works fine, but don't know about the Antares.

Arrived from FLO yesterday (Wednesday), I did not know this Tak accessory existed until I saw an image of it on their website.

Tak has such a plethora of bits, a photographic catalog really is beneficial to try sorting them.

I prefer setscrew 2" to 5/4" adapters over compression-ring-type models.
