My name is Alan and I've been enjoying visual Astronomy since nineteen sixty . . . uh . . . for a long time now. Just got my mitts on an Orion 8-inch Newtonian which I hope to begin using as soon as the weather here becomes tolerable and the glacier melts off of my deck.

The new scope is a step up from a 120ST achromat which I really enjoyed using until I got the Aperture Jones.

As much as I enjoy the science of Astronomy, I observe primarily because I like to look at cool stuff. I regard myself as a "Seasoned Novice."
