Hers a few shots from Castlehill,Caithness between 21.15 and 21.30 when the aurora sprung into life.

For me it's an easy #3 for best shot. The boat in the foreground with the aurora to the right and the stars to the left is a fantastic composition. Don't get me wrong, they are all amazing, however if I could only hang one on my wall it would be #3.

Thanks for the comments.Afraid not Steve,aurora went quite again.The predicted cme was very weak.

Its a bit of a trade off I suppose,it never gets darker than twilight for a couple of months in the summer and in mid December our official length of day is about 6 hours 20 minutes

so we get the best part of 16 hours darkness.Great when the skies are clear but a bit depressing when its wet and cloudy for days on end.
