  1. Thanks @NiCo10 i will give it a couple of days and order jusst before i return from holiday 👍
  2. I have been using the same as John and very pleaesed with it also. It was an "upgrade" to an unbranded zoom i had owned for a long time. Definitely sharper, more contrast than my original, but i wouldnt say a massive improvement, enough though to justify the change.
  3. Whether its a small scope, Binoculars, or just the naked eyes, its all Astronomy 🙂 Very nice report Vlad, Saturn and Jupiter are rising earlier as each night passes.
  4. Anthing that keeps the light pollution out and keeps you eyes adapted is a good thing. Winters in the UK are generally pretty cold so the hood on my fleece does the same job as your pillow. I have tried the eyepatch, but didnt like it much. I think i needed maybe a better quality one to be honest.
  5. A big old book this one, 480 Pages, 1473 Images, 16Chapters, 1.7Kg. Definitely going to buy it, looks an execellent addition to the Astro library ! I think i might wait a week, as i am away for next week and i am not sure whether it will fit through the letter box! Anybody care to share the size of the packaging of the A4 book ?
  6. Wonderful contribution John, thanks for all you comments and help over the years 🙂
  7. Some excellent images as always, the weather was probably the most uncooperative i can remember for the Noctilucent season. Well done to everyone who managed to capture something.
  8. Any suggestions for the IMS alignment procedure?
  9. Very happy for you to post in this thread, thanks for sharing your images, i will definitely try again and keep a better balance to the image.
  10. does look a bit clipped either side of the orange belt area in the middle. Simons images are excellent, i will definitely have another go with this data.
  11. I know my C9.25 is F10 so quite forgiving with eyepieces, but my 22mm Nagler is my favourite eyepiece to use in it, the view is superb.
  12. I thought it might interesting to see the 2 images i recently produced side by side for a comparison between 3 minutes of data v 21 minutes. This is purely a comparison of what my relatively modest processing skills are capable of, given the two sets of data. All 7 SER files were treated the same, AS3 for stacking, REG6 for colour balance and wavelets. The first image is the single image, the second is the 7 x 3 minute images de-rotated in WinJupos. Even in my hands the difference is well worth the effort. I did have a few issues with WinJupos, it left an annoying artefact just off the right hand limb, there is also a slight "edge rind" on the left (which i can live with 🙂 ) I removed the more annoying artefact by adjusting the levels at the black end of the histogram which seems to have hidden it successfully. I think i might have lost a little bit of the limb all round doing this though. Probably another re-process is on the cards, as the data is the best i have for a while so worth more experimentation. I tried a few different alignment measurement processes in WinJupos, but the artefact seem to be there on all of them to some degree. I made the outline on the measurement routine as good as possible. I would be very interested to hear what others think to the de-rotated image in comparison to the more subtle view in the first image.
  13. lovely capture, nice to see a shadow transit and a Moon visible.
  14. I use the ADC every time I image in colour, I guess at higher altitudes where the dispersion is less, the impact of it will be less dramatic. I do preset it these days before I fit it, then check the colour aligniment once Jupiter is on the chip.
  15. Lovely looking widefield view!
  16. Very nice image, all my captures this year with the asi224 have been around 6-7 ms. I limit the captures to 180secs, which produces around 18500 SER frames.
  17. Terrific images Avani, excellent level of detail, particularly in the GRS region.
  18. Good to see you back, plenty of details visible there despite the poor seeing conditions.
  19. Both look excellent to me Neil, you definitely can see the Polar Hex. A nice little "dimple" visible in the GRS as well on Jupiter.
  20. Very nice Reggie, love to see the dynamic nature of Jupiter and the Moons.
