6x30 finder scope for the Tak. The SkySurfer 3 has served me pretty well but not really accurate enough on its own when using higher powers and changing eyepieces. Slightly controversial perhaps not to get the official Tak version but it would have cost more than 10 times what I paid for this. There’s very little difference in size and weight between this and SkySurfer too.

Pair of 14mm Starbase orthoscopics for my binoviewers. I have been enjoying the lunar views with my 15mm APM Ultraflats, FC-100DZ and 2.6x GPC and wanted to try a similar view but with less glass. They have a nice feel to them and the eye relief seems decent enough!

Have you ever heard the saying - "A tub of putty & a pot of paint, makes a Joiner what he ain't"?

Well this little pot of modelling paint could make that SW finder bracket what it ain't, a Tak blue finder bracket. And if you dismantle the ends of the finder and spray the tube white, even JeremyS will talk to you. 😆

Even with a tight budget, I could pass up on a few of these.

I ended up with 4, all dated 1967.

Image quality, these are nothing compared to what many of the members here do.

And I also got to deal with Robert Reeves.

Now to get them framed and protected.

I think you will like that nice looking SV trinket Mike , had first light with mine last night and was pretty well impressed with the views esp as it was at an AliExp bargain price.   At the 8mm the view in it was as good as the excellant 8.5mm XF, taking it down the stops  to 5mm 200x I had good seeing on Jupiter early last evening. It was only the higher mags  from 222x - 285x that  my 80mm acro couldn't handle on J.

Certainly in my eyes and others  have said it is a keeper eyepiece that belies it's value.

The largest  I have ever bought by a long way, this  mint condition APM eyepiece came today courtesy of an esteemed colleague on this forum.  For use in my 12" Dob and my 6" refractor, for deep sky observing, it will yield a 50% increase in power over my 30mm UFF eyepiece and give a darker background, with the same FOV. As is usual, I will have to wait a while for first light.

Anyone else fed-up with these postmen leaving rubbish in your porch?

Very nice Mike, congrats. Will be spectacular for planetary on good nights with the FS128 and DZ. With your eye for sketching, it should also be great for teasing out lunar detail.

Very glad it’s gone to a good home Steve. It’s a spectacular eyepiece - but more suited to your scopes than mine.

A nice 30mm Mint Vixen NPL to make a binoviewing pair with one I already have..

And from FLO a pair of Air Blowers for cleaning dust off my new Vixen objective (Jeremy: The 2nd one is a spare, not for a binoscope!!😜😋)..

Ordered yesterday c 3pm from FLO, arrived this morning before noon..great service as ever👍.

I've not bought a single astronomy related item since the Stellamira splashout last August and haven't read since returning from Kielder last Autumn, so at the weekend scanned World of Books for something interesting and cheap...

A very late delivery this evening from Amazon.

only published last Friday. One of the authors is my great friend from school days, Professor Tom McCleish, who tragically passed away last year. And the book was brought to fruition by my good friend Mike Frost, of the BAA.

I thought it was a metal detector at first. I might be in the market for one.

Are you going to use it to find another Tak to add to the collection ? 🙂
