Wonderful scopes in wonderful locations Matthew 🙂

Do you still have the LZOS 130 F/9 ?

You k ow you have too many scopes when you forget to include an image of your newest scope (and oldest for that matter, the C11).

The 130 f/9 in the Chiltern Hills. Still daylight but well on its way to dusk.

Been a bit absent on SGL for the last 2 years as we welcomed a little girl into the family just before Christmas 2020. Has also impacted my astronomy generally but starting to get going again. Most excitingly, she has asked about the moon already so hoping to have an observing buddy in a few years.😀🤞

Many congratulations Matthew, lovely news 👍. You can get her started with the FS-60C and she can work her way up from there 😊

Congratulations Matthew 🙂

I had nearly 10 years without a scope at all when our children came along 🙄

Used the Quark on the FC 76DCU to follow the growth, evolution and decay of a spicule. Far more detail than in the Lunt 50 SS next to it, but that was pretty good too, just a smaller aperture

Excellent Jeremy! Haven't been out solar observing for a long time due to lack of spare time unfortunately. I'm curious how the tak prism handles the heat from the sun with the Quark placed after the diagonal and the diagonal being a prism and not a mirror?

I wondered about that too, Victor. But it barely gets warm. I suspect because it’s not at the focal point

Had a moment of clear sky and feeling less full of cold too so grabbed an hour WL solar.
Feel refreshed now.

Oh and I cut my grass too, just to keep everyone else company...

A blast from the past with a bit of old school solar projection this morning. Seeing quite good and plenty of detail with the Vixen 3" achro and 17mm Plossl, the photos don't show how it looked very well..

Tak is out for a few little sessions between painting. Seeing ok, not the best, not the worst.

I like the look of your observing chair, haven't seen that one before. It seems to have a very wide range of heights.

Yes, it’s called a Catsperch, got it with a 16” Sumerian I bought years ago, works well.

102ED-R out this afternoon with BV at around 160x. Lovely detail visible on Sol before it disappeared behind the rooftops. Bino-bandit is a great addition for solar viewing.

Wow that looks like a super clean and sharp view through that WL wedge.

Thanks, yes it was remarkable actually, I wish the photo could show the incredible detail visible at the eyepiece. Still, I can’t help wanting one of those lovely Lunt solar scopes. ;)

Unfortunately and for the life of me I can’t understand why they cost so much more across the pond. They should cost no more than an additional shipping cost and that’s it.

Were you using a Polarizing filter? or just the ND3 in the wedge?

It was just the wedge, no filter, I did consider digging out the polarizer, but actually at that magnification it wasn’t bright at all.
