Hi Everyone,

Just signed up and hoping to tap into everyone's knowledge here.

Any dark sky site recommendations are greatly appreciated! I'm in the West of Munich and have a car, so getting out to a good site shouldn't be a problem.

Hallo, und willkommen, Jeff, here in Southern Germany!

Location:The Sudelfeld in the Prealpes region, near Bayrischzell, about one hour by car, is one of the very popular sites; about 1100 m asl (the lower Sudelfeld). (I've never observed there).

Another location: the Taubenberg near Holzkirchen; 900 m asl.

I'd suggest that you contact the people of the Volkssternwarte München; they will give you a lot of advice.

Hi Mark,

I know of the place, it's only about 10 minutes from me, but I've not been there. They have a skywatcher Star Adventurer on offer that I've been thinking about though, so maybe I'll stop by. 😉
