Went to see Tim Peak's Soyuz module at the National museum of Scotland yesterday and took a few pics with the phone.

Hardly looks like you could get three people in there,  must have been quite an experience.

1500 c on re-enty -  Now that's toasty.

Thanks for posting, its something I wish to see myself, but missed it when in London.
I have seen a Soyuz capsule before in Moscow many years ago ans was struck with just how small they really are.
As John has said, 'When you see hardware like that you realise that quite a bit of bravery is still required !'

Reminds me of an 'old school' diving bell. Considerable courage required to ride the atmosphere at speed in that device I should say! Thanks for sharing the photographs. If it's coming to Peterborough Cathedral (thanks for the heads up nigelg) we will try to get there to see it.

George by the sea currently not enjoying high speed winds and rain.

I should also point out that there was a virtual reality re-entry experience (Samsung VR) which I assume will accompany the display eveywhere.
It lasts about 30mins and is worth the £5 (if you are not affected by VR motion sickness).

Rob.

Just back from a short break in our motorhome in the East Midlands.  Amongst other things, we took in the Bird Fair at Rutland Water, Newton's birthplace (Woolsthorpe Manor), Peterborough Cathedral and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby.  The presence of a Soyuz capsule and spacesuit inside a medieval cathedral was a touch surreal.  Also there was a lovely memorial to George Alcock near the apse.
