That is a stunning picture

Thanks.....I feel very lucky to have my SRO dark site with it's low end of Bortle 2 sky.  I am spoiled in more ways than one.

Here’s a pic of my SkyWatcher ED80 in action on Friday night taking shots of comet C/2017 K2 PANSTARRS plus a single 300s sub.  The seeing was pretty aweful and, as the ASIair screenshot shows, the sky clouded over at midnight.

@powerlord Your little dog looks cosy. 🙂 Is that an old EQ5 lurking under the scope cover?

Yeh, very old eq5 with astro-gadget eq5r Pro belt goto, asiair, etc. Gets under 1" guiding. But lots of clouds last night and I've found guiding when clouds make it lose stars is worse than no guiding, so ran with no guiding 180s subs. Forecast better for tonight.

This is a newish campsite:  massive fields, no light pollution and full views of  sky

You’re definitely camping, the dog is most certainly glamping.

OK, sounds good.  I sometimes wonder what to do with my old EQ5.  It might be fun to try one of these upgrade kits just as a project. If ou can still get them. Most suppliers seem sold out at present. Or should I sell it and let someone else play with the mount? They’re quite good little mounts especially for visual or imaging lunar or wide-angle deep sky.

Do you get much interest from fellow campers when you’re staying at a campsite? Hopefully they’re not any nuisance, but I imagine some. might be.

So tonight's cloud forecast being touch and go I decided to keep things simple. No fancy pants electronics, just the AZ5 mounted Skymax 127 so I can outsmart next door's trees by moving the scope to the main patio for extended Saturn observation compared to last night.

Now I am sitting here kicking myself for not putting the 4" refractor and AVX out! Scintillation is almost zero and at zenith at least, transparency is as good is it gets here. I'm watching satellites whizz by naked eye and cruising around with binoculars picking out globs! Haha!

I'm gonna sit here for a bit longer then move the gear and carry on with Saturn.

Amazing conditions here, but as we were out with friends until about an hour ago I am just taking a few wide field single shots with the astrotrac and an 85mm lens.  Wish I had the energy to get the 17.5” dobsonian set up, M27 would be amazing.

It's a school night and I'm going to be paying for this in the morning, but successive clear nights, a nearly finished garden project to allow me to image from home, what more excuse do I need? I haven't been to the gym this weekend so thought imaging the dumbbell nebula would be a fitting compromise 😂

Finally my heavy ATM fork mount in action. All, excluding the 10" Bresser OTA, made from scratch at home/garden. A big harmonic drive is a heart of the mount. 70+ kg load capacity. 😁 The OnStep firmware @ FYSETC S6 board and the Astroberry @ Raspberry Pi 4 8GB do the job for me. It's not easy, but now I have 0.1 arcsec precision. Yesterday I checked its 1270mm focal length with the M57 and L-eXtreme, tonight I'm going to beat it with 2x Barlow ED. Canon 6D, Baader MPCC III and IDAS LPS-D2.

Fingers crossed... 🤞

That is one serious looking piece of gear you have there, like something out of an Austin Powers movie! i hope it works as planned.

Looks like something the colonial marines use.
