Hi everyone :)

I'm Ryan and I live on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, which has recently been awarded Dark Skies status, so I thought it's about time I learned a bit more about stargazing and astrophotography.

I've bought a Pentax k-x DSLR a few years ago, and picked up a few cheap lenses through eBay. I figured out that I liked astrophotography, and eventually bought a Celestron Astromaster 130EQ to try to get some better shots.

I took them out together for the first time last weekend, and realised that I haven't got a clue what I'm doing, so expect lots of questions [emoji1]

Hi Ryan and welcome to SGL - There's a load of us imagers knocking about so just ask if you get stuck. Remember that none of us were born knowing any of this stuff, so no questions is a silly one if there's something you don't know.

Look forward to seeing you around :)

Hi Ryan and welcome to SGL, I doubt you will not be alone trying out Astrophotography for the first time and having problems. Help comes in the form of a publication "Making Every Photon Count" by Steve Richards. This is not available through normal retail publishing outlets, but direct, see FLO top of this page.

You certainly live in an area which will benefit you with this side of the hobby, it will be a long and steep learning curve, with its share of rewards and disappointments, enjoy the forum and your imaging :)
