I finally decided it's time to stop lurking and start observing.

Having been into astronomy as a young kid, I'd decided I'd treat myself to a telescope in September this year, after I've completed a 2yr part-time MSc. That way I'll actually finish my thesis and not get distracted by stargazing.

So that didn't last and I'm waiting on delivery of a pair of Celestron Skymaster 15x70 bins...

I'm justifying then on motivational grounds. There are certain milestones I need to complete for my thesis. Every time I complete one on time I'll reward myself with an observing session. That way I should hopefully keep on track and put in extra effort if the weather forecast suggests a few clear nights ahead!
