Wide Horse and Flame, multi FL.

This is an old 328mm F3.9 Tak image but with added Ha data taken in the TEC140 for the Flame and now an overlay on the Horse and NGC2023 from the recent image done with Yves. If you add 2.4 metre FL data to 328mm data you have to do so discretely. Have I got away with it??

Magnificent work Olly,

Would you share a tip or two for adding high res data to wide FOV?

Mark

I'm working on a magazine article on this subject. The key is Registar, which will resize a long FL image to fit a widefield. If, as here, I'm adding a finished image to a finished image (ideally you should start with two linear ones) I put the long FL on top and then adjust it in curves, colour balance, saturation and selective colour till it's a good match and then use a soft eraser to feather it in. I never apply it at full opacity unless the two FL's are fairly similar. I think it's a powerful technique. This is a 328mm image from the Baby Q with the three nebulae added from the TEC140.

and here is a TEC image http://ollypenrice.s...B COCOON-X3.jpg

overlaid onto one from the Tak at native 450mm http://ollypenrice.s...E 2SCOPE-X3.jpg

Even a small dose of long FL data can enhance a widefield. Robert Gendler calls this Composite Imaging.

beautiful and transparent Olly. I cannot see a thing wrong with this. the (presumably) red giant star left of the Flame I have not noticed previously.

Good point. I don't recall it either. It may be reddened by dust as well though. I think it wants Dobbing!

Excellent Olly, good star colour and the red curtain of Ha looks strong but not overpowering. I like it. Looking at it very closely I think I see a dust bunny at 1pm taking the HH as the center. Just right of the bright star. Forgotten its name.
