Ever since I was a child, Patrick Moore was as synonymous with astronomy as the stars. It is like being told that Mars is no longer in the solar system.

He will be sorely missed.

Infectious enthusiasm and passion for astronomy that has inspired generations.

I guess he will always hold the record for the longest running TV show, ever.

RIP Patrick, such a sad day. I only just heard about it. The contributions he has made to the world of amateur astronomy can not be under estimated, and I agree with others' here in saying that without Sky at Night, this forum probably wouldn't exist.

A tragic loss to us budding amatuer astronomers he was very influential on me growing up and made me interested in astronomy from there on R.I.P old boy we will look out for you in the forthcoming skys and i will continue with your famous winter 50 challenge
