Hello Nubian and welcome to SGL.

I know this will be an exciting time for you and you may just struggle a little at first with it all. Your best bet is to download the free program Stellarium, that will show you what is visible from your location in the night sky, Saturn is a very interesting at the moment along with many double stars and star clusters. One of your first additional purchases should be the ever popular Turn left at Orion which will also help you along the way :)

Welcome to SGL :)

Your lucky to have a clear night so soon after getting new kit!

If you look low in th NW just after sunset, you'll see a bright "star", this is Venus, its big, bright and will be a nice thin crescent.

Mars and Saturn are also currently visible. Mars is quite bright and will be due south around 8.30pm, saturn is around the same brightness and will be due south at around 10.30ish.

I'm not a fan of mars myself, but Venus and Saturn will be great!

Cheers

Ant
