  1. I'd have said Ice or condensation but the temps you've stated it cannot be ice, but maybe condensation you are quite far below ambient. What's the dew point? But, maybe it's something from your flats?
  2. You are making me so jealous. I have a set of the highspeed ultra narrowband and it's raining and cloudy. I'm dying for some decent skies to start to work on a decent picture. Excellent results, is this with RASA11?
  3. With my RASA I always get some form of halo no matter which filter I use, this is due to SCT design and cannot be avoided. Different optical systems will yield different results. I get halos with my IDAS LP filter when used with CMOS OSC , and I can show some examples of halos on L-Enhance and L-Extreme. I used to have Chromas in my previous setup, and even those can suffer halos too. See the linked thread for the issues I read on Chromas. So for me it's performance at a price point that doesn’t kill the bank. I’ll be posting some test images from the high speed UNB’s once it gets a bit darker here and clear.
  4. Awesome! I'm glad I cam across your thread by change as I was searching for UFC info. Glad to have helped.
  5. I think the top of your filter should look like this.... so there is definitely something not right there. (I found this image on the internet)
  6. I know this might sound daft, but is the filter screwed into the holder? On your first picture it looks like there are threads on the top of the filter however the writing is the correct way. Maybe you've not got something screwed into the filter by mistake?
  7. There is something not quite right was this brand new out of the box? I couldn't see in the video the problem but I guess a stiff spot would be hard to see it's more something you feel. Mine have been smooth. They are adjustable it depends where and how big the stiff spot is, again hard to see in the video.
  8. Mine is flexible too but the t-shirt is lightweight enough it doesn't really move. Can you not run some wood down the inside to give it more support? Or invest in a carbon Fibre or I think you can also get proper remote operated closure fins I found this on the new filter system https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/blog/rasa-8-extreme-images-michael-jaeger-with-ccd-camera-f2-highspeed-filter/ and its called the Baader FCCT (Filter changer camera tilter). I think this is the solution for the RASA 8" filter situation. I knew I had seen something more than just Facebook.
  9. Hi Tony, does the Varilock spacer fits between the filter drawer and the camera? I just leave the dew shield on and throw a t shirt over the end it can be left on for months which also saves me doing flats that frequently. The simple things 🙂
  10. I was looking into the RASA 8 as a portable setup in the field with my caravan. As far as I know this is a known problem with the UFC due to the small backfocus and looks like you've got a good solution, at least for mounting the filters but I suspect you will still have problems with collimating as you will need to remove the camera to access collimation screws? Removing the camera to collimate will mean you are back to square one most likely. I saw on Facebook in one of the many groups, that Baader are working on a solution for this due early 2020. From what I can gather is the new product will be a filter changer system with a built in tilt adjuster with adjustments on the side so it can be collimated without the need of removing the camera etc... This would be ideal for the RASA 8" It sounds like this may be the solution to deal with the 28mm backfocus of the RASA 8". I've got the 2inch Baader high speed filters already for my Hyperstar C11 but this never gets removed from the Observatory for the field, so this new changer could be ideal.
  11. 2018 I was not busy at all with Astro Imaging it seems. Two images the whole year! IC5070 Bicolour taken with C11 and Hyperstar with Baader Highspeed Filters 9 Pane Mosaic Sadr Region/NGC6888 taken with C11 and Hyperstar with Baader Highspeed Filters
  12. Haha yes I didn't notice there was a little hand there at the time obviously oblivious to my parental duties :-)
  13. Mine have changed a bit. Now have a ts 100q apo and starwave 152 achro (next to my c11)
  14. Prom and surface. Still clear here but now I may have some houses in the way shortly. I need to work on the limb a bit and also I have an artefact in the sun spot due to deconvolution.
  15. It's glorious here today in the North East. Two more full disc jpg previews.
  16. Forecast suggests clear all day North East England. Let's hope so, no doubt I'll have a load of fret to deal (not that there is any dealing with it) with being close to the sea. It's unusual usually it's the South that's clear and up here cloudy and raining! Hope it clears for all even if that's just producing some gaps.
  17. Stephen, we've probably got time to test it out when it starts. I can run at 60fps full resolution. It should be possible to combine data? We're using same res and same scopes at native focal length although some factors may result in slightly different image size. Might be worth a try.
  18. Hi Anders. 1. I'd say 6kg. I have atik ccd, filter wheel, oag and oag cam. It's not 6kg but I cannot imagine it doesn't support their claim. It doesn't budge even without the focuser lock engaged. I didn't need to make adjustments either. 2. The existing steeldrive does not lock the focuser so tou can still use it for visual and manual focussing if needed. I find that very handy on m c9.25. So it doesn't have a hold consider it released. 3. Yep you will be fine I don't use the focuser lock and I can repeatedly hit absolute focus position each time between imaging runs which means there is no slip. My obs is remote controlled.
  19. I couldn't decide if to go piggyback or side by side so I did both! :-) 3 scopes: C9.25, William Optics GT81 Gold, TS Imaging Star71. The QHY8L is on the reduced GT81, the Atik 460EXM and EFW2 is on the TS71, along with the OAG (QHY5L-ii M). I have an ASI120MM-S for the C9.25 plus a range of EPs. I can also use my 600D but this may suffer from field rotation if the OAG is on another scope, I need to test that more. I also move the Atik cam to the C9.25 when galaxy season is upon us. The only reason I mounted it all on the EQ8 is because the C9 was sitting in a bag for most of the year and I was reluctant to take off a frac for a little bit of lunar imaging or some visual now and then.... so why not. It works and guides well.
  20. I've got to agree with Ian. I used mine for imaging NGC6888 and also some Lunar imaging earlier this week, the action is smooth and enabled me to get precise focus in not so good conditions at 5.8m focal length on my C9.25.
