Today's arrival.......  " Astronomy and Cosmogany "  by  James H. Jeans  (dated 1929 )  7" x 11"  428 pages

A dignified work in simple language with theory on the origin of the Universe. A lot of mathematics involved, with many diagrams.  Back in the day, this book cost $ 10.oo, which was a substantial amount of money, I got it for less than the cost of postage.

Had another delivery today.   Hutchenson's - " Splendour of the Heavens "  (dated 1923 )  8.5" x 11"  976 pages

Well, looks like I hit the jackpot on this purchase. The two volume set is absolutely mint.  I don't know where to begin, other than to say its a "magnificent work", 960 illustrations,  many photos of Telescopes, a 75 page constellation atlas and guide,  etc., etc., etc. ..........

Edit; WOW !

I got 16, 29 & 24mm maxvision ep's. Only had about 1 hr with them so far and am totally amazed at how well they work. Contrasty clear views that are a world of difference from the old Plossl's I've been using and an even better bargain 2nd hand. :)

Only something little... a Hyperion Zoom T-adapter so I can attach the zoom eyepiece to my DLSR and have a go at some eyepiece projection imagery. Might try and capture the double transit of Ganymede and Io this evening from 10pm (if the current thin layer of cloud clears that is).

Also ordered some Baader solar glasses which me and my daughter tested out down Southern Down this afternoon.....can't fault them for £2.99.

Here's a shot of the new mount temporarily set up to check things (I need to get the positioning right for the adaptations I need to make to the pier).  I holds the Skymax 180 alongside the 123 Refractor and piggy-backed Borg easily
