New William Optics GT-81 Triplet Refractor

We have recieved news of a new William Optics GT-81 Triplet Refractor featuring Ohara FPL-53 low dispersion glass and a 2-inch DDG focuser. A matching focal reducer is also in the pipeline.

Love the paint job! Very funky.

Any word on the power of the reducer? A nice little tube like this with <f5 and matched flattener(?) is very appealing for grab and go and star party use. Have to say I miss my little WO since selling it on.

We are expecting it to be a 0.8x reducer, which would bring it down to f4.72

No foot or scope rings..how does it mount ?

Williams visited the UK earlier this year so we saw it then, it was nicely made and rather classy. Similar to a megrez-90.

I don't know much about triplets compared to a two lens appo. But this seems like a great price...!?

Looks like a very good scope from WO, having the 80mm DDG version myself. With a f number below 5 imagers will like this scope a lot.

I actually like the handle. The number of times I've nearly dropped my scopes while mounting them I think all scopes should have them.

Any chance you'll do a package Steve? I.e. scope, reducer, rings etc.

I've had a couple of scopes through my hands that have handles installed and I think they're great for steadying the telescope whilst mounting and de-mounting it.
