  1. Thanks, yeah, the shelf is permanent but hope it'll not clash with the scope. If it does, I'll have to adjust.
  2. Really sorry to hear your Ed has crossed the rainbow bridge in the sky. I know how awful it is to say goodbye to an old friend. I lost my 13year old cat in February this year, used to sit with me in my Observatory at night.
  3. I love this forum, only joined in 2018 but only become active member last year. Thanks everyone for making this forum the best there is. Thanks Helen for the post.
  4. Welcome Bill, I used slide film years ago, digital imaging is in another league but over time you'll learn the new skills needed to do so. We're all at different levels of experience and skills so have fun and ask those questions even if it seems daft.
  5. I use an old eq6 tripod with my skywatcher solarquest mount. Really stable with my Lunt60 DS.
  6. Nearly there, flooring down today. Now, has anyone got a telescope, lol.
  7. Can't believe it's been nearly two months on this relocation. Sanded the outside of the dome today ready for painting next Tuesday (the next dry). My partner said I looked white, not sure how to take that.
  8. Inside almost complete today, pilar complete and inside painted. Flooring mats to go down on Saturday when it's going to be wet, sanding down outside tomorrow ready to paint as it's going to be dry and next week telescope and mount going in. Did a panorama pic (looks a bit wobbly, lol). Also security camera installed that gives me alerts on my phone.
  9. There is definitely a green tinge to the coma, carbon based molecules on all my image's.
  10. It's a brilliant little mount, I get 30secs at 300mm with no trails and even more with smaller lenses.
  11. Hi all, I know it's not perfect and my DSO imaging is not perfected (I class comet imaging the same as DSO) and I struggle compared to my solar imaging but I'm really pleased with this image as I wanted to get the ion tail as well. Stack of 39x25sec images, stacked in Deep Sky Stacker. Canon 700d unmodded with 70-300mm telephoto lens set at 100mm. Caught one frame with a meteor too, lol.
  12. Brilliant Rob, well done, yes, it's so much better having taken it yourself.
  13. I done it all on my own John. My family are 500miles away in Scotland, lol. Did get four friends to help lift the dome on, no way could I have done that on my own, lol.
  14. Brilliant job John, I've got to do the same with mine but white, lol. It's such a lot of work getting a dome up and running, I'm constantly tired at the moment, took today off, lol. I don't think people appreciate how much work goes into it and mine is just manual.
  15. I've managed to see and image it twice a week ago then it's been cloudy since. Hopefully tonight and tomorrow is supposed to be clear. First time imaging a bright comet with a DSLR. This is what I got. Pretty pleased as it'll be another 6,800 yrs before it comes back, lol.
  16. Welcome to the forum, I used to live in Bristol but moved to darker sky. South of Bristol I could see the milky way just.
  17. Did some electrics and furniture added today. Put the mount plate in place just to see if it fits and ready for cementing in place.
  18. Brilliant Pete, great image's considering the altitude of both planet's.
  19. I got a manfrotto tripod for £30 for my LX2, used with a small wedge. Not used it much so far but got Neowise with it using a canon unmodded 700d and 70-300mm telephoto lens.
  20. Thanks Pete, night time imaging and processing is another set of skills I've yet to perfect so solar is my comfort zone, lol.
  21. Finally finished the flooring. As usual, inspected by the cat, lol.
