  1. I originally bought some of those but didn't fit my dome because the dome doesn't have an inner lip.
  2. Thanks Rusted. I've just cobbled together MK2 version which completely latches down rotation, lift and wind
  3. Thanks Rusted appreciate your thoughts. Interesting ideas but I'd still have to ensure engagement after observing. Electronic deadbolts that engage and disengage the dome when you lock or unlock the door would be the ultimate solution, lol.
  4. Hi rusted, thanks for your comments, my pulsar dome is the older type so it's harder to see how one can do the same. The dome sits on the wall and has the wheels attached to the dome itself. Pulsar reversed that and now wheel's on the wall. Image of my dome wall shows the difference. I'd be glad if I could fit something that was perminent and didn't have to engage or disengage but I've thought about it since thieve's lifted it off and damaged it. For the life of me I can't. Perhaps a challenge for someone on here, lol.
  5. Thanks, interesting idea on the additional piece, I'll have to experiment. I've also thought of using two identical anti lift brackets that would go either side of the partition wall with a bolt through that would make it even more anti theft. It would stop the dome being able to be rotated, lifted or blown. Going to experiment tomorrow.
  6. Iron monger might make up a new part, my iron monger has made iron plate's for me to my design.
  7. Welcome to the forum, ask away if you've got any questions and enjoy the hobby.
  8. Just made up some anti lift brackets so hopefully thieves won't lift it up this time. Also good for high winds. They move out to operate the dome so they clear the wall partition's. I will be cutting off the excess bolt length.
  9. I saved up all my summer money and tips £600 in summer jobs in the 70's to buy a 10inch Newtonian and motor driven mount, no goto then. £35 a week. Took about 18 weeks of saving. Costs were astronomical compared to today.
  10. Welcome to astronomy, I've realized domes are Like black holes too. Money is thrown in and nothing comes out, lol. Well, enjoyment comes out and those WOW moments make it all worth it.
  11. Hiya Rusted, yeah the condensation was quite a bit, I had a dehumidifier in there and it made a little bit of difference but not completely eradicating the condensation. I'm hoping the new method plus dehumidifier will make a difference, we shall see. BTW, been in the obsy today and completely dry so everything must of sealed ok, so that's a relief, lol.
  12. Hi Olly, two things, I wanted more hight because the garden is below road level and two to bring ventilation under the dome. These dome sweat, or at least mine did in it's previous location so I'm hoping this will will help with that. I'm planning on venting underneath with a couple of grills (not the bar-b-que type, lol). I'm also going to put a higher floor inside too of the same hight. So in theory the dome/telescope/me will be 45cm higher.
  13. Dedicated Solar Telescope! It's our biggest "little" announcement of the year! The new LUNT 40mm is the smallest and most portable of our dedicated solar telescope line. This true grab and go scope. I started solar observations with the original 35mm. It was a great little scope and wondered why they stopped production of it.
  14. Yeah Steve, still lot's to do inside. Hopefully commissioning August in time for Mars, lol
