  1. Thanks for all the comments, it was a very high standard as always. I got lucky for once with the conditions, as we all know you can produce what the given conditions will allow. This image was one of many captured at around 2am during July, really hard to motivate yourself on a work day to get up at this time, especially when the conditions are so unpredictable. I can remember having a warm glow all day at work thinking about the data i had captured earlier 🙂
  2. Still a pretty decent image, especially considering the position at the moment.
  3. Excellent Avani, always a great achievement to show anything other than a plain disc.
  4. Very nice to see all those Moons on show!
  5. Very nice Reggie, great to see a widefield view of this planet.
  6. Still a struggle to see Venus for me a the moment, too many trees and houses in that part of the sky. Always a pleasure though to see it, probably the best phase at the moment a decent balance between arc size and phase.
  7. Just shows what can be achieved with a modest aperture in the right hands. A fine image especially considering the lateness in the Jupiter season as well.
  8. Excellent catch Neil, i have seen and imaged it a few times. Its not particularly rewarding to image, but some detail can be seen occasionally in images i have seen online. I think these are mostly daylight captures when its much higher up. It is good to it though as it is never very high during hours of darkness.
  9. Still plenty to see, getting towards the end now though
  10. A lucky escape Martin, i have never had that happen to me. Worth checking the filters occasionally, mine seldom leave the filter wheel.
  11. Love seeing them, gives a real 3d feel to the image for me.
  12. A good looking set of images Neil, love the dramatic shadows in the craters.
  13. Definitely noticed Sheringham, when I was on the beach at Weybourne. Compared to my home town though, it's "heaven".
  14. The new active region looks huge, will be interesting to see it rotate around. Lovely detail visible in those images.
  15. I asked about the frame quantity, because you were stacking 12000 frames and also 96% of your frames. I would say both are way to many, although with your quality graph looking so odd it might not have made any difference here.
  16. An ADC will certainly help things, as the dispersion is clearly visible in your finished image. I don't think 3 minutes is too long, as A/S3 can cope with some rotation. The one thing it can not help is poor seeing conditions. How frames did you capture?
  17. Hope there are some clear skies for everyone who is attending. I was there in the summer, lovely dark skies! I would love to get back sometime this winter.
  18. I do pretty much what Neil has said. I have one of the "filter tabs" with the settings for exposure and gain very high, that way when you add the Barlow you should usually see a out of focus "doughnut" shape in or on the edge of the field of view. I also leave the ROI at max until i have added the Barlow.
