  5. Very nice capture, the activity has been been very high of late. I think i counted 10 active regions at once a few days back on Spaceweather.com. Unfortunately its been grim here and not looking any better for the rest of the year.
  6. Even though this generally means hazy conditions, i still like seeing this sort of phenomena. Very nice capture, especially for a mobile.
  7. Excellent report, lots of activity at the moment to view, if this cloud ever lifts!
  8. Merry Christmas to everyone at @FLO and thanks for the continuing support of SGL 🙂
  9. Lovely thin crescent, a tough target that low down!
  10. Thanks Neil, i and a few others will be very interested to see how that combination works.
  11. Tuesday looks promising weather wise, hopefully might get 1 last look at Leonard.
  12. It is louder than my EQ3-2, but you are running different motors to me. I also think it sounds like backlash maybe, when you change direction or initially start the motor. I don't think the sound when you slewing is much louder than my Atlas EQ6, but as @ONIKKINEN has said worth looking at the backlash.
  13. Venus has been blazing away on the horizon for months now, i finally managed to be in the "bottom of the garden, between the trees window" at the correct time of the day with clear skies 🙂 Venus looked pretty good with the 807 filter to settle the atmosphere (1st image), Pretty grim with the UV filter though. A nicely formed crescent in IR, but very difficult to get and sort of end result with the UV filter. Pleased to get anything, it took a lot of different methods to finally arrive at an image that looked anything like a planet . C9.25, asi290mm.
  14. Probably not really worth the bother, but my imaging opportunities have been so few and far between lately i could not resist. The view was very nice through the eyepiece as well, while the conifers allowed it 🙂 The usual set up C9.25, Asi224mc.
  15. Nice end result Neil, very tough down there in the murk!
  16. Lovely little crescent there, great to see the meeting of a modern digital camera and classic 80's astronomy equipment.
  17. Really good considering the position/conditions, a good level of detail visible.
  18. Almost looks like a line of Meteor impact scars! Nice to get a record of it Paul, hopefully not the only image we will see.
  19. Venus Is well worth a look at the moment through your, it is currently a Large lovely thin crescent. +1 for turn left at Orion book, excellent for planning your evening observations.
  20. I also have the Skymaster Pro 15x70s, excellent quality Bino's. Right on the borderline for me in terms of hand held/Tripod use. I guess it depends on what you call long use and what the user feels comfortable holding.
