  1. Pretty tough conditions today, an excellent capture
  2. You would think with the price of electricity currently (no pun intended), people with think twice about needlessly illuminating their gardens, trees, walls, drives, ect.......
  3. Doesn't time fly when you are having fun 🙂
  4. +1 for the Asi224mc, i use a X1.8 Televue Barlow, which does mean i am over-sampled. I have some reasonable success with this set, considering the position of the planets from the UK in recent years.
  5. Excellent final image, very nicely done.
  6. Very nice some lovely filaments
  7. The simple answer is yes, i have been using a Lunt 50tha for many years now after switching from a PST. That said mine has a B600 filter. I used a DMK21au618 camera for ages with mine, but more recently i am using a Zwo asi 290mm camera. To be honest i have had more problems with Newtons rings since i switched to the Zwo camera. Although this is fairly easy to correct with a tilt adaptor. The superior performance will be hopefully worth the extra cost of the adaptor. In my experience the Dmk21 will not achieve focus without shortening the nosepiece, my Dmk had to sit as far in the diagonal filter as possible. It then made focus, buy only just.
  8. Fascinating thread, thank you to all that have contributed 👏 @Stephen Waldee you will find SGL a very friendly and open to nearly all opinions, so nothing to worry about there. Very interesting articles you have shared there regarding dark sky adaption and filters, really nice to hear it is from personal experience. The idea of preserving the "night vision" of your eye piece eye (that looks odd 🙂 ), is something i have also done on many occasions. The difference even after a short time in my light polluted garden is remarkable. One of the big mistakes also, is observers do not spend enough time on one object. As @Stu said "pop a filter in and everything becomes easy to see. They obviously make things darker, but improve the contrast, so if anything dark adaptation is MORE important when using filters" is spot on! As @Stu said one of the major problems we face, certainly in the UK is finding somewhere local with anything like dark skies. I went to Norfolk last year, not far from Kelling where Asto camps are held. The skies were amazing compared to what i have locally. Thanks once again for the in-depth links, P.S are the "Astrogoggles" available in the UK? 🙂
  9. Excellent animation, that has worked very well.
  10. A great team effort Kon, a nice set of images as a reward
  11. I follow a few Imagers on Twitter who mostly image satellites inc ISS. Its incredible what detail is being captured, thanks for sharing the video.
  12. Very good capture, despite the amount of ISS images around it is not easy to get a good image. Some very nicely details visible there.
  13. I have heard of it before and have seen a few videos in the mainstream Astro media outlets. Seems to be quite a modern phenomena, related to Airglow and not Aurora. I am sure i read another name last year for a similar type of phenomena.
  14. Beautiful image, well worth the effort for this end result. As others have said no improvement needed, it is beautiful as it is
  15. very nicely captured, the white light disc is excellent
  16. Terrific Prom today as well, still going strong according to GONG.
