  1. Most important thing for me was to get myself orientated, in terms of which direction the Sun was going to drift in. Most of the manual adjustment is going to be done in R/A assuming your are reasonably polar aligned. I simply used to align on the A/R, wait to see which direction the drift was going to be and then hit record. Adjusted manually is not as smooth as using the motors, but sometimes i had little choice. From memory this was mostly at work, or in the winter when the Sun was low and i was in the countryside.
  2. The Dove tail looks good a secure fit to me as well. The disc on the camera fitting stud, is so you can screw the camera in position. When it is pointed in the desired direction, you screw the disc up to the camera body to lock it in position.
  3. Don't know too about the camera you have suggested, but it sounds a bit similar to the Asi2224mc. Just to offer a different opinion than the set up you have mentioned, i would suggest the Asi224mc £220, X2 Televue Barlow £122. Both from FLO. I would also say an ADC is essential, along with a UV/IR cut filter. The main gas giants are still so low that it is not going to be easy to image them, the ADC will certainly help with the OSC. You also get to use the brilliant Firecapture software it, i can not recommend it enough!
  4. Very Jupiter image, so decent detail visible there.
  5. Lovely spot and a cracking filament!
  6. Superb start with the 178, excellent image!
  7. Some very nice details visible there.
  8. Very nice to see a decent size spot group again.
  9. Weather permitting it should be an interesting event, i will also try and catch the Moon early and follow it up.
  10. Very nice, some decent detail visible there on both targets.
  11. I don't think i have bought many items expecting them to make me happy to be honest. Although my 22mm Nagler makes smile every time i use it (what an eyepiece!) Getting 2nd hand equipment that has been looked after by previous owners and now is giving me pleasure does make me very happy though. I do the same as @John i have a completely separate fund i save in for Astronomy items, if there isn't enough in it, i don't get it. 🙂
  12. Some lovely detail visible there
  13. Hopefully it doesn't decay quickly like the last one. I don't think it will though as there seems to be a lot of activity around a large area.
  14. Considering the weather, wind, rain, poor seeing, position of the AR near the limb, only a small window of blue sky (1 imaging run) i was pretty pleased with the end result 🙂 The usual set up for white lights, Evostar120mm+Lunt wedge, Dmk21au618, Stacked 10% of 5000 frames. Cycle 25 activity seems to be increasing to me, lots of Proms around recently, a couple of A/Rs as well.
  15. Good effort considering those conditions today.
  16. A couple of very nice discs there, looks like things are "warming" up!
  17. Looks good to me, especially considering the conditions.
  18. There certainly has not been many gaps today, at least you captured something.
