  1. HI just wondering if anyone knows what size the large focuser tension/locking thumbscrew is on the 80ed (it is the older blue tube version) it is similar to this one in the picture
  2. me here, 🙂 getting them in batches of 10, pretty sure it will sort itself
  3. Max payload for Ioptron tracker is 5kg ZS61 is 2.2Kg, 0.27 for the flattener and 0.449kg according to Canon for the DSLR, Red dot finder approx 0.115 Kg. 2Kg for counter weight Now at 5.034Kg so just slightly over max payload, Is the setup protected from the elements such as wind, also you have a free hanging weight on the tripod which could be moving about if open to wind, it won't take much wind to have an impact on the setup in my opinion, just my thoughts on what could be causing it,
  4. Not on everything, They wouldn't price match me on the ASIAir Pro when i contacted them ☹️
  5. My daughter got me this poster which she says i have to frame and put it in my Obsey and my son got me this, not sure when i will get to use it though🙂
  6. Have a look at this thread, it will give you some idea of what your telescope is capable of 🙂
  7. What makes you think it's a he 😀 the op's first post makes me think it's a she 😀
  8. No, as long as your mount is pointing roughly towards Polaris you should be good to just run the polar align sequence from the ASIAir and align using that
  9. He doesn't tend to work over the holiday period, he usually goes back over to Spain to see his family, not sure if he has this time due to current situation, You might have to wait until holiday period is over for him to get back to you. Have you tried or had a look here http://www.astronomiser.co.uk Regards
  10. It should give you some nice views of the sun, always check the filter before use to make sure there is no damage or tiny holes in it, If you have a finder scope on your main scope either remove it or keep it covered, James
  11. Just a friendly warning, If you do take it out during day time to practice with the focus and exposure, PLEASE DO NOT point it anywhere near the sun unless you have the proper equipment that allows you to do so. ( you only have one pair of eyes) Regards James
  12. I'm in a similar situation and asked about changing from DSLR to OSC or Mono I got good advice regarding this ( not what i wanted to hear, but good advice anyway), have a read through, basically you need more money 😀 Regards
  13. Pretty sure there is a function in the utilities mode on the handset that controls the brightness of the polar scope
  14. Looking on the light pollution map, it says i'm in a Bortle 5 area - not sure how accurate the map is though,
  15. Just out of curiosity 🙂 would there be a noticeable difference using this filter with un-modded dslr as opposed to a modded dslr ?
  16. Thanks for links, will check those out
  17. Thanks for your reply, I do have a set of standard RGB filters and manual filter wheel, not ideal i know but perhaps a start 🙂
  18. I have the EQ6 Pro, pier mounted
  19. Hi all, Not sure which section to put this in? getting started or cameras, (Mods please move if necessary) Need a little help/advice/recommendations, I have been away from my telescope/astrophotography for about 2 maybe 3 years, i kind of lost the mojo for it, but now looking to get back to it, So i'm looking for camera advice/help, Previously i only ever used a DSLR for astrophotography, however i am thinking do i stick with that or do i get something different? I know there will be a learning curve with new camera setup, My area of interest is/would be Nebulae and Galaxies,i know there is no one camera fits all kind of thing, so Nebulae would be my main interest with Galaxies coming 2nd. My current scope is the (Older Blue Model) Sky-Watcher Evostar 80 DS-PRO ED, so with that in mind what would be a good camera to pair that with, colour or mono i'm not fussed really, My budget for new/2nd hand camera is £700 but could maybe stretch to £800. Any help/advice (good or bad) will be greatly appreciated. Regards JemC
