Cambridge Double Star Atlas ££!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've started looking around for a copy of the Cambridge Double Star Atlas, but the only copies I can find for sale on Amazon are priced very highly, at hundreds of pounds! Why is this the case?

I may just go for the Pocket Sky Atlas instead, as it gets good reports for double star content as well.

Crazy prices!

I had the same problem trying to get the Sissy Haas book on doubles (Sky and Telescope published) - eventually ordered it from the States, but thre months later still not delivered and it turns out no date either - obviously out of print and not expected any time soon. The resellers on Amazon are just chancers...hate it.

I'll just get the info I need from the web instead :).

I bought my copy when I first learned of it. I like books, and do this with any astro-book released in which I have an interest, as I fear it will soon be out of print.

The link to the CAP site was for the spiral bound physical book, not an eBook.

The link is to the wrong book  ... http://www.cambridge.org/gb/academic/subjects/astronomy/amateur-and-popular-astronomy/cambridge-star-atlas-4th-edition ...

The Double Star Atlas is an e-book only .... http://www.cambridge.org/gb/academic/subjects/astronomy/amateur-and-popular-astronomy/cambridge-double-star-atlas

Sissy Haas's book is a real stickler. I keep advising folk to go here,

Hopefully they'll get a copy. Worse still, I use mine with the Double Star Atlas !

This same silly price practice happened with O'Meara's Caldwell Objects book. Think this will rumble to a halt when folk don't buy at these prices,

Nick.

Yep - Abebooks were brilliant!

I can get a copy for only £290.46! Or if I want to splurge, I could buy the £643.77 one.

Decisions...

Ant

Which one did you go for? Hope it was the one in the best condition!!!

Seriously though, there's a wish list facility on the site and once you put your details in of the book you are after you will get a notification when they get one. They're not all at silly prices

I agree with the Caldwell objects comments. I held out and managed to find one on Amazon Uk for just under £30. Some companies were asking for £70-100 !

I guess you just have to keep looking. Here's hoping for a reprint !
