Myopicus
Probably about a 3 on my patio, especially now I have woollen army blankets that I can hang over the house windows to block ambient light.
johnd
I would say I'm about a 6 on a good night, I long to be able to see the rest of 'Little Bear' (Pole star aside) I know its up there somewhere?

DaveS
Mostly 7 I think, but it has been as low as 5 when I was younger. I did see a 6 sky back in Dec but as the garden was soaking I didn't dare try lugging the scope out to set it up.
nitram100
8 I can't even imagine the joy you guys with 5 and below must get when walking outside to your garden. Living in London and being an Astronomer is very, very difficult. I was born in Ireland and moved to London at a young age so go back quite often, the view from my Uncles garden in Armagh, Northern Ireland is spectacular, I saw the Milky Way for the first time a few years ago and couldn't believe it, gorgeous. My goal in life is to live in a 4 !

My goal in life is to live in a 4 ! Yeah I grew up in Co. Armagh and although they went nuts on Orange Street and Road lights, I used to see some lovely sky's in my Yute. Not as good as Southern Italy village views but way better than our London suburbs.
Carbon Brush
Can you get a 12Nottinghamshire County council are doing their best. In some places, after driving on unlit roads, street lights are often dazzling.South Yorkshire are also doing their bit. Recently I looked at the view from Handsworth Cemetery over the 'technology park'. Or was that Blackpool?

SlyReaper
I'd say I'm around 5. A few miles out from the city centre, but there's a ridge in between, so not much light pollution from that. Really looking forward to the next cloudless nights, I'll drive out to Brecon and do some proper dark sky viewing.

Saganite
I feel very fortunate. My south facing rear garden has only one street lampvisible, it is 50 yards away and goes off by 12.30 am, leaving me witha 3.

starman1969
I'm in Blackpool, so I'd rate it as a 7. My local dark site ten miles away would probably be 3.
