  13. Last week i installed on the roof of my motor home (which is used exlusively for astro) a 150w Solar panel........ its not stopped raining since i feel the need to take some responsibility for the recent bad weather
  14. I have a genuine Canon battery and 2 non branded batteries that all work fine. You have done exactly what i would do in ordering a genuine battery, hopefully its just a dodgy battery but the non-branded ones i have do work so..... Strange one this.
  15. Just evaculated 1000's of spiders from the obs, there was nothing in there yesterday but this afternoon went in and they'd been mating, webs were everywhere and they were full of little red spiders... everywhere. Iive been at it for 2hrs clearing them out and i am not a freindly neighbourhood spiderman...... everybody died!!!! do any of you have any anti spider techniques??? if this happens again there will be no alternative but to burn down the obs & possibly the surrounding london area to make sure i got them all.
  16. Windows OS are like star trek films, every other one was great.... I was a big windows 7 fan, 8/8.1 were truely awful but i think they have it right with 10. Its much better on resource and if you count the 2 PC's i use in work then i am regularly using 9 Windows 10 PC's and i have had no crashes/BSODs yet nor have i found once piece of Astro software or driver that doesn't work. Of the 7 computers i have 64bit & one 32bit, 2 x I7's 2 x I5's, my tablets use Cherry Tree Atoms and i have a mixture of RAM from 2 to 32gb. They are all running Windows 10 Enterprise Edition and all run
  17. Thats me booked, 29th to the 6th Theres NO WAY i am missing this year, if i have to walk with my gear on my back i'm going.
  18. first crude attempt... Because of the way i work out of my van away from the scope i wanted a CCD telrad replacement so that during setup i could see my finderscope/finder guider/Imaging CCD all on screen at the same time and do my 2 star align without traveling back and forth and potentially missing something, its not strictly needed but hey... I took an old SPC900 stripped it, mounted a 25mm CS lens on it and boxed it. I was concearned it would need a L\X Mod but a quick play last night an i now know that i dont. I'm going to put a tripod adaptor in the bottom annd mount a cheap b
  19. Every now and again i go back to the idea that i'd like a CCD replacment for my Telrad, its not essential but a 'would Like', i was cleaning out the OBs the other day and found my old SPC900nc sat there not doing anything, you can see where this is going...... So after some testing and couple of very cheap purchases i am at this stage... I bought a 25mm CS Lens and taped it to the front of the webcam and even though it was woefully aligned with the CCD and not focused properly it showed me that i could at least see the Brighest stars in the sky. I moved to the next stage, stripped it
  20. the point of this system is ease of use & time...... Are there more accurate methods, maybe. With more time can you get better results, probably but if you are out in the field or tear down every night then this system just works, at least it does for me. I go out, PA with it and in 5mins & guiding i and getting upto 25min subs, better then i have ever previously gotten & i don't feel that my subs are any worse at the end of the night. The point of the thread is the polemaster and whether its any good, for me its a big big yes and i think anyone who has got one will agre
  21. Oh one other thing i have found is that upon boot up none of the devices are plugged in, the USB cables and hubs are but once its all up and running i plug in one device at a time, check device manager and watch them come on and then plug in the next one, its a little more time consuming and in theory un-necessary but this way i never have any issues.
  22. I only use Lindy cables now but i have the following in both USB 2 & 3 from my van and they work a treat From the PC i have.... 5m USB Active repeater cable > 30cm USB Male A To Male A > USB Panel Mount Straight Through Connector > 5m USB Active Repeater Cable > Powered USB Hub As i say i have both these running from the same PC, i found in testing though that the Hub can only be at the end of the run not one before it. I split the cameras over the two hubs but i load tested it and can run my ...... QHY8L - QHY5v - Canon 1000d - A
