This is the 12" LX200 I have used a lot in Namibia.

A sort of Astro-selfie using the Vixen SG 2.1x42 Bins.

My APM LZOS 105 in the desert in Oman just before dawn after an incredible night of stargazing.

I suppose one's eyes could be considered an equipment set up as well? After everyone else at the lodge in Namibia went to sleep I just sat on a sun lounger by the plunge pool and just took in the view. Had my camera with me and took a few shots.

The old and the new, just for a bit of a comparison tonight.  My old 3" Prinz optics refractor and my new (1year old) 6" reflector. The moon looks surprisingly similar.

Imaging Sadr this evening. Probably a visual astronomer's biggest nightmare... lit up like a Christmas tree. Believe it or not the computer is displaying a mostly black PHD2 screen at minimum brightness. main light source is my workshop window.

Indeed, it is often a bit of a challenge to share site between visual observers and astrophotographers, one that requires observance of some etiquette.

It's surprising, that screen really isn't as bright as it looks, here's a screen shot;

The other evening, I stuck a red A3 plastic wallet over the screen though and it seemed to make quite a difference, although using it knocked out my dark adaptation for about five minutes. I also made sure it was pointing in a sensible direction.

The various red LEDs and small green display don't seem to cause any problems.

My TMB / LZOS 130mm F/9.2 triplet refractor on the HEQ5 mount / Berlebach Uni 28 tripod. I used this setup last night and may well do the same tonight

And this is what was lighting it

Laptop and 24" TV. Laptop with mount software and Maxim camera control, TV with CduC and Maxim capture window. Red filters on both screens, also over the laptop indicator LEDs.
