Sol 20-5-16 09.45 monster in the middle.

sat for 2 hours before getting a hole in the clouds but even then it still had a thin layer between me and it. taken with 120mm f5 frac, 1.5x barlow, lunt solar wedge,450d mono. 62 frames staxed with regi,coloured in photoshop. thanks for looking and i hope you all have clear skys.  charl.

Great pictures. What would you say the size of that thing is compared to the Earth?  About the same??  

The inner darker area looks similar to Mercury transit pictures.

Of course I'm comparing it to the size of mercury from its 50 odd million kms from the sun!  Imagine the size of the transit images shrinking as it goes nearer to the suns surface until it is right next to it, if you know what I mean?  It would be like a pin prick. Amazing, and to think of the size of some stars out there.

yer Peter its mindboggerling, and our sol is small as stars go, and not really a bright one, lucky for us ,to me its the best object in the sky and the most importent thing in our lifes.  charl.
