For christmas I got Universe - the definitive visual guide. After some reading I decided to get a telescope but then after more reading I decided to get...

pentax sp 10 x 50 wp binoculars from the binocular shop to start me off £50 cheaper than amazon too if they are the same!

Last few days I have spent hours deliberating which binoculars to get, read lots of threads and reviews on here including a review written on the binocularsky website so thank you to everybody who contributes on here.

I am a total beginner and hope I enjoy it. My name is sophie and I'm from Leeds in West Yorks. Nice to meet you all

Welcome to SGL Sophie. 10x50 bins are really nice instruments, they should serve you well. I have only just replaced my old 10x50 bins by 10x56 bins (latent aperture fever strikes again )

Have a look at www.binocularsky.com  run by Steve Tonkin a member here and who also write for the Sky at Night. Has a free monthly news letter with what objects are good for binoluclars in that particular month.

Hi Sophie, I just joined today, my first and only pair of bins were 10x50 I must of had them 15 years now and I still use them to this day I think I use them just as much I do my scope.

Hello - I used a pair of 15x70's with a tripod at first to learn the sky and constellations. I still take them out with me now even though I have a scope
