New person saying Hi!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have just joined the forum. I am very new to astronomy but would love to start taking photos within the next few months.

I have a 4" reflector (Meade) but am saving up for the rest of an astrotrac mount and William optics 71mm telescope, nearly there.

I will be avidly reading your posts and asking a few questions over the coming weeks. I'll even post some of my attempts at astrophotography!

Thanks

Harry

Hi Harry and welcome to the forum. If imaging is going to be your main interest in astronomy, It might be worthwhile getting yourself a copy of Steve Richards' "Making Every Photon Count". A very comprehensive guide that will tell you what kit to buy and why you need it to take good consistent images. As a minimum this book will certainly help you save money by ensuring that you avoid buying the wrong kit, we don't want your first picture of a black hole being the one in your wallet!     Being modestly priced, this book is going to be the cheapest piece of 'kit' that will purchase as you embark on your exploration of the 'dark art'. The book in my opinion makes for essential reading and its price does not do justice to the wealth of information it contain and is certainly worth considering.

Clear skies and hope you enjoy the forum.
