Hello everyone. My name is Tony and I live in Pleasant Point, just outside Timaru in New Zealand. I have always been fascinated by stargazing and plan to buy myself a decent beginners telescope soon. I hope to indulge my own interest and spark the interest in my five year old son. The heavens here in PP are spectacular and it would be a crime not to take advantage of the fantastic viewing conditions.

Welcome to the forum Tony. Having spent three weeks in Queenstown last year I have experienced your magnificent skies so I am very envious apart from the fact that all the stars and deep sky objects are upside down ......

Hi Tony, welcome to SGL. We spent a few weeks in a campervan around South Island three years ago and I didn't want to leave. A wonderful country you have there. I still want to emigrate, but the wife wants to stay near family . We really felt for the people of Christchurch after the earthquake, hope things are getting back to normal now.

Good luck with your astronomical endeavours.

Pete
