Finally pics of my new toy!!!!

Recommended Posts

Just took the new baby outside and got a few pics of it. Five minutes after bringing it in the clouds decided to open and dump a load of that wet stuff all over the garden. At least it had the good grace to stay away until I had brought the scope back inside.post-13689-0-28966600-1343487447_thumb.jpost-13689-0-24801700-1343487542_thumb.jpost-13689-0-47350400-1343487593_thumb.jpost-13689-0-90659900-1343487643_thumb.jpost-13689-0-45415000-1343487700_thumb.jpost-13689-0-65646000-1343487747_thumb.j

Thanks chaps. Hey Dunk the little box contained an additional counterweight. Don't know what it is for as the scope is nicely balanced with just the two. Granted I didn't have the star diagonal or eyepiece attached, but there was enough on the counterweight bar to move them back if needs be.

Looking good Malc

I often think I should have gone the 9.25 - they are regularly reported on here as the best of the C 6 / 8 / 9.25 / 11 / 14 bunch.

Think you'll need those legs extending all the way out or invest in an observing seat or backache will kick in

Very Nice! Think I've seen one of those before. :)

I suggest that you move the alignment peg on the mount, so that it is placed in front of one the tripod legs.

Hmm, need to check mine now you mention that!

Congrats on your new toy :) The CG5 GT is pretty easy to operate - you'll pick it up in no time and it'll be a joy to use. The instructions I had with mine seemed very comprehensive and easy to follow - the full manual is online on the Celestron website if you need it - you might be missing the addendum. If you use it to guide a refractor - or pop a guide scope and camera on it - you'll be glad of the extra counterweight. :)

That's a nice rig you have there. I have the CG5 -GT Pro too, but not the 9.25 scope. I use mine loaded with either my 150mm f8 frac.

or An ED 80 Apo plus zs66 guidescope.

I enjoy using the mount, and as Kim saId, it is not difficult to operate once you become familiar with it. It's all in the manual. Just read and digest.

Let's hope the coming season is free of rain and muck, and you can enjoy the full potential of your new setup.

Good luck.

Ron.
