  1. For a first scope you will be amazed with it, most people start with something around 4 to 6 inches to start with.

  6. Hi and welcome to SGL. In my opinion you can’t go wrong with the Skywatcher 200P Dobsonian. They can usually be picked up very reasonable in the used market.
  7. I have the AZ5 Mount on mine and it is easily carried by me and I am no youngster.πŸ˜€
  8. I am not sure what fitting you need but I find the Skywatcher 3/8” stainless steel tripod a very stable and versatile tripod for just over Β£100.
  9. I find that a couple of cable ties joined together are an added insurance because even if the adhesive doesn’t work the finder won’t hit the floor.

  13. Over the past few weeks I have bought 2 new eyepieces and have not yet had a chance to try them πŸ™
  14. You might be adding to your problem by using rechargeable batteries as they are only 1.2volts instead of 1.5 volts. If I remember rightly the voltage is critical on that mount.
  15. I agree, BST Starguiders are hard to beat for the price.
  16. Another option is to use a water butt base, they are light and surprisingly stable.

  18. Astronomy can be very frustrating but it can also be very rewarding, you just need lots of patience and a willingness to learn. Keep at it and you will get there.
