There is a way to fit the motor to your scope but it needs some diy work. I can’t remember who it was but I am sure they will advise you as soon as they see your post. -

Manual vs Goto Mount & Scope

I have a Skymak 127 which I use on either a AZ3 or a SW stainless steel tripod. The AZ3 is very light and portable and can be carried with the Skymak very easily but is not as solid as the SS tripod. -

Hi Mat, Welcome to SGL. A lot of people including myself start with the Skywatcher 200P and it is a great telescope for the price, easy to set up and gives fantastic views. Depending on which way you want to go, either AP or visual will decide what type of scope and mount you need. I am only a visual observer and I still use my 200P along with a 127 Mak and a ST 120 refractor which are both on manual mounts. My venture into Goto was not what I was expecting as I spent more time setting up and operating than observing. Lots of people use Goto and are very successful but for observing I find it more satisfying using a manual mount. -
Better to wait until Wednesday before you get excited, it is rarely the same from day to day.

Tools for maintenance

A small spanner set, a set of Allen keys And a couple of screwdrivers would be a good start. -
Hi Phil, welcome to SGL. Hope you have a lot of patience as you will need it with this hobby. It has been very lean for me for the past few months as the clouds have been very abundant and when we get a rare clear night something else usually prevents me from observing 🙁
