My rechargeable hand warmers inside my mitts keep me nice and warm. I just use my bare hands for adjustments and put my hands back in the mitts.

I have the Skywatcher AZ5 on a Skywatcher stainless steel tripod and although it is a bit over budget it is very solid and holds about 7 kg (from memory), it also has slow motion controls which are very smooth. -
