  5. Excellent image, I prefer the first. How can anyone know what the most "natural image" looks like? - serious question what does that actually mean? Does it not come down to personal preferences as to exactly how the image is post processed at this level? If you like the image great if not then that's fine, we all are different. Oh and we are all viewing the image on different screens/phones with different resolutions/ colour gamut etc. Still I will say it again I like #1.
  6. I use the Stars/Ekos on my RPi4 and it just works. Platesolving, GoTo, Focussing, Filter Wheel control, Target selection and image Sequencing and Guiding both using PHD2 or the inbuilt guiding tool. The developers keep adding new features on a regular basis like the new linear focussing option this last update, or the improved image viewer. The planetarium part in KStars is just as easy to use as Stellarium or Cartes de Ciel. Cant fault it. Making use of the USB3 ports increased speed for accessing the file system on a SSD makes huge difference to its performance.
  7. Sorry but that is incorrect. You certainly do attach it to the fine adjustment side that is how it gives such fine control it is very clearly shown in the manual. When installed it takes about 95,000 steps to go from fully in to fully out.

The terminal on Mac is a Unix terminal and its best if you have some familiarity with the basic commands like cd to change directory and ls to list all the files in the current directory, pwd to print your current working directory. To print out the contents of a txt file then the command is cat README.txt. for example. If you have never done this before it is worth looking up the basics on the web. The README.txt file included with the download gives all the instructions on how to use starnet in the terminal. You can start the Terminal.app from Finder by double clicking on it in the Applications/Utilities folder. That will open a new terminal window with a prompt something like Computer-name:~username$ with a flashing cursor after the $ To run StarNet its best to change directory to the directory where the it is located. This is also the directory in which you need to place your 16bit tiff file that you want to remove stars from. To do this you use the cd command followed by the directory name. Here for example is my StarNet directory. The pwd command simply prints out your current working directory. Davids-iMac:StarNet david$ pwd /Users/david/Documents/Astronomy/StarNet Davids-iMac:StarNet david$ ls LICENSE mono_test5.tif NGC6888_1.tif rgb_starnet++ README.txt rgb_starnet_weights.pb libtensorflow.so rgb_test5.tif libtensorflow_framework.so run_mono_starnet.sh mono_starnet++ run_rgb_starnet.sh mono_starnet_weights.pb starless.tif Davids-iMac:StarNet david$ To read the instructions in theREADME.txt file at the prompt$ enter cat README.txt It will display all the instructions for using StarNet in the terminal. Finally to run an executable at the $ prompt you enter ./ followed by executable file name and the input file name Eg. $ ./rgb_starnet++.exe INPUTFILE for colour images Or $ ./mono_starnet++.exe INPUTFILE for mono images. Not sure how familiar you are with using unix terminal commands so I hope this helps and its not too basic. The command line is very fussy over when to use spaces or not so be careful. and good luck
  10. +1 Starnet works both in a terminal window on a Mac or in PI running on a Mac. It does need a Mac with a processor made after 2011 that will support AVX instructions which is a requirement of tensorflow.
  11. I have installed the Sesto Senso on my Esprit 100 and all worked as per the instructions. The Red bush is the correct one. As the previous post says you need to adjust the two 90 degree grub screws as shown in Fig 5 of the installation instructions. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1499321/Primalucelab-Sesto-Senso.html?page=5#manual Make sure the power is OFF when turning the manual focussing knob otherwise you are fighting the motor in the focusser

  14. What OS are you using Windows or Mac. I installed it on my iMac running macOS 10.14.6. and Pixinsight v 1.8.8-3 just by following the step by step instructions in the README.txt file that is included with the download. It certainly involves more than a simple copy and paste. Everything just worked fine. I assume there will be an equivalent README.txt file for the windows version.
  15. Fantastic image. This is going to be my next target. I think I will take your lead and go for Ha and OIII only. Might add just a few RGBs just to get coloured stars.
  16. Both of your scopes are relatively short focal length (770mm and 420mm) which means that imaging is more tolerant of tracking errors. The combined weight of a two scope setup would be somewhere near the CEM60 limit so I think you might be pushing it if you plan on using a scope with over 1500mm FL. You might end up regretting pushing it to the limits and then face another upgrade IMHO
  17. I was thinking of moving from my AZ-EQ6GT to the CEM60 but in fact it doesn't really give me any real benefit. The Imaging load capacity on my Skywatcher is virtually the same as the CEM60. The CEM60 built-in USB hub sounded good but actually it is only USB2 so no good for my ZWO astrocamera. I have come to the same conclusion as Vlaiv and decided to stick with what I have now and perhaps upgrade to the MESU 200 mount level of precision if I ever get a permanent set-up.

  19. Are you connecting to the RPi via VNC running on your Mac? What macOS version are you running?
  20. I run my mount, an imaging camera and a guiding camera quite happily on my RPi4. I use KStars / Ekos for the imaging and mount control, plus PHD2 for the guiding. If you are taking long exposures on the imaging then everything works fine. The ZWO camera is USB3 so data transfer is pretty quick.
  21. Thanks for the link. Sitech equipment certainly has a very good reputation but I do get the feeling that they don't move forward or keep up with technical advances very quickly. Looking at the references on their site the majority are from the 1990's and some of the links are dead , so makes me nervous about committing serious money. But the recently announced MesuE200 is just so tempting!
  22. Anyone using the Mesu200 with KStars/Ekos or other non PC based astronomy package? All I can find on here are users running on Windows with Ascom drivers or SGPro.
  23. On a reasonably good night using the gear described in my signature I am able to get most stars around 2" to 2.5" FWHM . I am more than happy with the star size it produces. I was thinking of going for either the iOptron RC8 which has a focal length of 1624mm. Tempted by the RC10. which has a FL of 2000 so that would need a reducer. It is also quite heavy and would be pushing the weight limit of the mount so probably not a good idea. Would my guidecam attached to the 50mm/160 FL finderscope be up to the job or would an off axis guider be better? Sorry for the never ending questions
