  1. Takes a bit of doing picking up a mag 15 galaxy as some even brighter test even large scopes to the very limit, so that is very well done Dave. Alan
  2. It was so difficult this one, I spent a lot of time looking at them, it would have been easy to place any one of 10 images in the top 3 Alan
  3. Feel the image above has benefited from the addition, I have about 16 hours on this which I intend to add to this month, though I feel some of the frame are not best focus but i can hopefully reduce those in DSS with the selection percentage. A wonderful image you have there. Alan
  4. That's come out lovely, lots of thin wispy stuff there i don't see on many and mine of course, great shot. Alan
  5. Don't believe I have seen this done better than this, beautiful capture. Alan
  6. It's great that it is visible at all, difficult object even with this aperture, I managed it twice but that was maybe out of 20 attempts, I think you have to hit the sweet spot on power, I only had a 1,25 inch filter so rather limited my options. Alan
  7. Nice sketches Dave, I see CLS stated on that planetry, is that the Lumicon filter I let you have and do you find it useful at all, I did on some targets, mainly galaxies. Alan
  8. Agreed according to that it is not, still a fine capture you have produced . Alan
  9. Vlaiv is a perfectionist but also incredibly helpful to many of us. Lovely image that I think only the cores are slightly burnt out, but it is difficult to do this perfectly, I feel you have come very close Alan
  10. Very nice Carole, like the composition. Alan
  11. Mine is F 4.3 Vlaiv, and whilst I have never been totally happy with the scope I have got a bit better. I feel results have improved since I bought the stronger Astonomik's L 3 IR/UV filter, I seem to recall you among other recommended. Alan
  12. Lovely capture and processing from you which is the norm. Alan
  13. Totally agree, I noticed the same with the collection of M33 data. We have plenty of clear skies here from May to November and I normally do about 2 hours a night and was checking the results of M33 at 2 hour intervals, once about 4 hours it was really 12 before you could see a difference. Though one has to consider different processing on each effort, it is unlikely to be the same. Alan
  14. Lovely image, I am going to start ramping up my data on this target which stands at about 4 hours now. Though I can't see them side by side I struggle with my normally good eye for this sort of thing to see a difference worth talking about. I have 16 hours on M33 which I am also going to add to, weather permitting of course. Alan
  15. I took a shot of the pelican about 2 weeks back and then thought it's time to swap the camera to the Borg 77ED II which at 330mm is a wider field that the 071 can just about handle. I was never very pleased with results from this scope but I feel they have got a bit better since I bought the Astronomik's L3 UV/IR filter. Not sure I still haven't got a colour caste to the images in the red but they look decent enough to me, there is so much red in this area. This is 40 3 minute subs with calibrations frames. Feel free to offer advice and any ways to improve it. Alan
  16. Nice Wim, that is more in keeping with how the 800mm scope records the data and a little like how I got it when I balanced things up a bit, I didn't think this came out too bad considering the small amount of data, I thought it was about 90mins but it's a bit less, I guess the fast F4.3 helps the capture, devil to focus though. Alan
  17. A lovely image there. I did try this from here a couple of years ago but it is rather low in the sky, as good as a result that I got it does not compare with your fine effort. Alan
  18. Not sure how I got green into it in the first place because after checking in many places there is hardly any green in the background sky but a fair bit in the galaxy, which I quite like as it happens. I did balance it up but didn't repost. I find that this Borg 77ED II trend to deliver somewhat green images though even with PS if you know what you are doing you can remove or add just about anything. As a wide shot I was fairly pleased with this as it is not hours and hours (90mins I think). I am going to add to the 16 hours of data I have on my 800mm scope and then start to stack lower percentages on DSS, I am going to try to increase it to 25hours of data and see what it gives. Alan
  19. Maybe I should be promoted then. I don't really follow footbal but I see where I use to live, Hull, have made it back to the 2nd level, that use to be the Championship. It was so much easier with Division 1, 2, 3, and 4. Alan
  20. I have done this a few times in the past but never really more than a hour or so, so pushing the boat out for me, 3 hours worth. Whilst it is not in the Premier League of photographers on SGL it does for me make The Conference (if that still exists). I don't actually feel it looks much like a butterfly this close up but I may well try it on a shorter scope next time out, this was taken with the moon around the other night and I feel has lost a bit of zest. Feel free to say what you wish, it is all of you that have helped me get this far. Alan
  21. Its not brilliant from here Rod, can't imagine 10 degrees less, and that if you live in the south. I keep looking at M 6 and 7 but apart from the fact they are very low here I have about an hour when I can get on due to walnut treesand a flip in the middle. Maybe I should get the chainsaw out. Alan
