Welcome , out of interest what Nikon are you using , I’m using a Nikon D5300 and that’s an excellent camera for Astrophotography 👍 the 250pds is a big sail though I have the 200pds it’s going to be a heavy piece of kit personally I wouldn’t get the 250pds unless I could keep it mounted in an observatory , I hope your feeling fit.

I’m considering a duo band filter for my dslr with all the duo band triband filters about are they all perfoming on par with each other or are some makes better than others , to be used with a Nikon D5300 .

Shouldn’t you be platesolving off the imaging camera, why would you need to pltesolve off the guide scope I only platesolve off guidescope when used with polar aligning using sharpcap pro

What iso are you using for blind solving, using APT i find iso 1600 works well with a 6 sec exposure and use the ASTAP option usually blindsolving in about 4 sec and have the G18 star catalogue installed , I would ask @han59 for help with Astap settings I’m sure there’s a setting that needs tweaking I use a 350 and a 1000 mm fl scopes .

Skywatcher do a polar scope illuminate if that helps it should fit https://www.firstlightoptics.com/sky-watcher-mount-accessories/polar-illuminator-for-eq3-2eq5-mounts.html though it is possible to use Eqmod via suitable cable just unplug handset plug this in and control from your pc a godsend if your starting Astrophotography and once you get the hang of it image from the comfort of the living room , https://www.firstlightoptics.com/sky-watcher-mount-accessories/lynx-astro-ftdi-eqdir-usb-adapter-for-sky-watcher-eq5-pro-heq5-syntrek-pro-az-eq5-gt-az-eq6-gt-and-eq8-mounts.html if you do go this route and you go the Astrophotography route then you can polar align using sharpcap pro which uses your guidescope to pa then you won’t need a polar scope illuminator .

Ok af1 is the same size Af2 I thought I saw a picture of af3 being bigger .

Adam is af3 unit bigger than Af2 or same size .
