  1. Do you get any led activity on power on when the SD card is being read? There is/was a way to see if the Pi has a corrupted firmware - which can be reset. Have a looke here for remedies.
  2. I thought it was due to Penguins all jumping in the sea at once - feeding at regular intervals - based on the science of a butterfly wing causing a hurricane etc. I have an O level in Physics but can't claim to be an expert in tides. 🤔 Perhaps counting Penguins jumping into the sea will help you sleep now.
  3. All terminators have plate-solving installed and can self polar align I would guess 🤔
  4. Not sure you should be using a yolk on your mount you might get egg on your face 😂 Or is the yoke on me?
  5. Can you imagine what I thought when I first saw such a train of about 28 and did not realise what they were!
  6. There is always astrotortilla which is a local copy of astrometry plate solver. Uses a PC Linux emulator and needs a lot of big data files to run blind solves. Though you can reduce the download if you know what cameras you will be using.
  7. I beliee John meant you can get the end off, maybe it's a tight push fit or is there a grub screw keeping it in place. Then adjusted with a hack-saw to the right length.
  8. Unless I'm looking at the wrong thing this may need a handset as well or connect with eqmod. http://www.iliaplatone.com/gt1/ Not that I've seen it used before.
  9. Are the ones shown by the original poster switched and not the more preferable regulated type?
  10. That looks like a Planet model as here There are also the Uni models here
  11. There are many portable battery supplies that can be used that supply a steady regulated voltage designed for such a use - see https://www.firstlightoptics.com/batteries-powerpacks.html for some examples and price ranges. Others use leisure batteries and their own connections boxes. Before you decide it may be worth noting that one of the issues many try to resolve is a tidy cable setup on the mount (whether fixed base or portable). So have a look at Pegasus Power Boxes, some of these have an option for powering dummy DSLR batteries. There are other makes and typically you use one connection from your portable source.
  12. If you leave the focal length at zero it should auto fill it for you. I presume it does a blind solve and returns the focal length that would have been used based on the solved image and the camera and focal diameter of the scope given. If you are not getting a solved image check the scope settings are correct and try with the reduced focal length (as per the reducer) then the actual scope focal length. I ony put it in that order in case the ASIAir is taking it's time working out the real focal length based on the unreduced length. Hope that makes sense and helps.
  13. On this page there is a download link for the firmware versions in zip format which contain the PC app too. https://teleskop-austria.at/MGEN_Lacerta-MGEN-2-Autoguider-Standalone--Remote
  14. Can't vouch for that specific jumpstart model but you get essentially the same issue with the astro equivalents in that leaving it to run down can prevent it working. You'l see a lot of them for sale used with comments like just needs a new battery. I have an old Maplins jump starter where I replaced the battery with a decent branded one and it's served me well for a few years. It even starts cars like the big 4x4 truck of my neighbour. A monthly charge keeps it going but I use a C-Tek charger rather than the cheap wall plug-in.
  15. We just ended DST so are back on GMT now. I remember it as we are on GMT until spring when we go forward and fall back to it Autumn. Hence use the phrase spring forward and fall back. It also matches the US phrase which helps.
  16. How about a nice Berlebach tripod like this without the legs being extended.
  17. Hi, I have one of the old SW GPS mouse units which can be used on the old serial handsets in binary mode, and (using the serial adapter and software that came with it) can be configured to NMEA output for use on a PC and Stellarmate/Ekos. Has anyone used one of these on the new SW handsets, and if so what output mode was needed? I will be adding this to my pile of bits for sale but don't want to sell it if it's not easily usable by any buyer. Thanks Steve
  18. I'd do the software donwnload/installs with the mouse/monitor/keyboard first perhaps eve with a network cable for speed. Then setup the wifi connection and check it connects without the network cable before moving it anywhere. Then setup RDP and check that works before putting any distance between the NUC and router. Note. When it is in position remotely make sure the NUC power settings don't let it go into sleep mode or you won't be able to access it.
  19. my very english memory juicy sausages usually need piercing My first sausage pre-dates the exclusion of pluto.
  20. I have seen a few comments around suggesting adding an aerial to the Raspberry Pi - but it does seem a little tricky and in the case of an ASIair could invalidate the warranty. However, I did find this page on adding an external wifi aerial to a TPLink portable router in case anyone wanted to try it out.
  21. Send gary1968 a PM as he may not see this thread. Have you got the pier already or is this the start? We love seeing build pictures here at SGL 🙂
  22. Hopefully, from what the OP has said the 3 grub screws are now in place and the focuser stays on and can freely rotate. It would seem he has an additional issue with the focus tube slipping which needs to be set properly as well.
  23. The Baader focuser I have has the same attachment method, if I have the grub screws too tight it squeaks when rotated, and has a seperate lock screw to hold the rotation. Most Moonlite focusers have the same rotation/connection flanges too, but being moonlite the flanges are more substantial. See what Starlight say first, and if required I get ready to send a picture of the flange as I can see a tiny chip in the edge where it has come off.
