Observatory Clock ?

Hi I have only just started my obey build so far I have done the groundwork and laid a slabbase for my log cabin that I'm waiting on a Delivery Date for ......

So while I wait I thought I would start looking for a good clock ..

Here is what I'm after if one even exists. I've searched google high n low

Large Red digital readout that includes seconds would be a bonus if it could sync with the local atomic clock (nearest to me is Rugby) would be nice if I could find one that also displayed local sidereal time too ...

Any ideas ?

Did a bit of searching when I had the same idea, not as easy as it sounds, I ended up with a cheap clock from Argos as it was the only one with large red figures, no seconds, no atomic sync.

A while ago now so you may have more luck.

I ended up getting a black readout clock and use red lights to read it.

I decided that the sync feature was more valuable than a red readout, and couldn't find one that had both.

Have you access to wifi in it? If so you could get hold of a cheap iPad or something and just use it as a screen on the wall with this app, it's called Skytime.

YesYes made a rather nice observatory clock, you can see it in his log of his observatory build. I think he may even have included details of its build in his web site.

I was thinking of something like one of these. Don't know what they go for but it's only got to be able to run the sidereal app. Could be wrong but I would've thought you could pick one up fairly cheaply. -

This is what a 'thoughtful' relative thought I needed about 3ft from my nose - it never made it to the obsy but did to the garden fence near the patio. 

I use the laptop clock I carry to the obsy for imaging eg lower right corner of screen in GMT with date thank you very much

Nothing fancy, there's my standard el cheapo wall clock waaay in the back wall.  It's 12" in diameter.  I paid about $10 for it.  And I can also see it in the dark.

I must admit I am very surprised there's no one outside of the USA that can supply a clock that displays sidereal time. I don't suppose there's much demand but even so.

I brought somthing like this one from Maplin. Only the one I had is radio controlled as well. The temperature reading is a usefull feature.

What I have been after for a long time is a 24 hour sidereal clock. It should be easy enough to make one except that as so many clocks these days are electronic / quartz getting it to gain four minutes a day is nigh on impossible

Interesting point about UTC v Sidereal Time.  Does this mean that CdC can be a bit out out does it have correction to convert comouter time to Sidereal Time I wonder.

Aldi are selling some very similar to Tony's (Freff) one above. I saw them last night for £20. Clock, weather predictor and moon phases included.
