Hi there! Christian from Vallirana, a town near Barcelona, Spain

I bought my first achromatic doublet in 2014 on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of Galileo but I didn’t really start in amateur astronomy until 2019. I have been making many good friends and acquaintances since then. At the present time, I own several mounts, telescopes, and other astronomy gear. My main mounts are a Vixen Saturn with OnStep and a Losmandy G11 and my largest aperture telescope an Orion UK VX12 300mm f4. For wide-field astrophotography, I use above all a Celestron 100ED-R reduced to f7.2 and a Dörr Danubia Space & Field 80 f6 made by Vixen for Dörr in the 80s.

After taking a look at this site I decided to join the community to keep meeting other hobbyists, and sharing my experiences and knowledge.

¡Bienvenido a SGL!
Wish you lots of fun!

Vielen Dank!

Back to English so others can follow in, though! Sorry for not replying sooner, late/early flip over as it's my weekend on call so bed was calling (and knowing how effective the work phone is, clear skies until Monday).

Rather strangely, I've not looked at AstroAmics, I've had a couple of nudges from a couple of friends here but will do later on.

Bon cap de setmana!

Hi Christian, the C100ED-R is a great scope, I use mine for visual only.  Good luck and clear skies!

Indeed. At first I also only did visual with the C100ED-R but now I mostly use it for astrophotography with an Orion 0.8x focal reducer (there is also a 0.6x focal reducer and corrector manufactured by Long Perng but I haven’t tested it yet). Furthermore, I’ve been looking for either the Celestron 80ED or the 80D Onyx for years with no luck.

It’s proto-Slavic for ‘far’ as in distance.

So do you like linguistics too? 🙂  I enjoyed a lot reading your message in Scots (was it actually Scots?). Am I right if I suppose you live somewhere in Scotland? 🤔
